FM24: THE LAST 20 YEARS REALISED, AND THE LAST OF ITS KIND

Football Manager 2024 will be the 20th game in Sports Interactive’s Football Manager series, and will be the last of its kind.

It’s a love letter to football and the FM series as we know it.

It’s the closing of this chapter of our history.

You can expect a host of improvements, big and small, both in new features and revamps to existing areas of the game. This is all thanks to ideas and feedback from within the studio, the world of football and contributions from our feature request forum.

The vast majority of the team at Sports Interactive are working on FM24, with the idea that it will inarguably be the most complete version of Football Manager to date.

The FM24 feature set was confirmed and fully designed earlier than previous releases, thanks to additional resource joining the studio, and huge improvements of various practices and workflows. We’re also due to be feature complete (when every feature design is implemented by the dev, art, and UI teams) earlier than before too. Crucially, this gives us more time to finesse the new features, fix known issues and catch any new ones that may crop up.

That doesn’t mean though that we’re going to announce those features significantly earlier as we want to get it all working first!

However, as a sneak preview, I can share progress that’s been made towards one of the most requested features from our forums over the last 20 years – and that’s the ability to transfer saved games from one version of FM to the next.

From our data, we know that people play FM in a wide range of different ways. Many will play each version until the next one is released, while others may continue with previous iterations not wanting to give up on their save game. As the best "create your own story" game there is, this is both a blessing and a curse.

But, thanks to many years of hard work from across the studio, I’m delighted to announce you’ll be able to bring your FM23 career into FM24 across all platforms. This means, when you first launch Football Manager 2024, you'll be given the option to continue your FM23 story, picking up exactly where you left off - powered with the new features and revamps that FM24 will introduce. And it’s not only for this year’s version of the game that this feature will be active. It’s also the plan to bring saved games from FM24 into FM25, despite the big changes coming for FM25, which I’ll talk about more shortly.

This is especially good for those playing via Game Pass and Apple Arcade who, by subscribing to those platforms, would lose access to their career shortly after the new game is released. This has been unavoidable to date due to the expiry of our licenses which require us to remove titles from platforms upon conclusion. We’re still working out the finer details with the platform holders, but the idea is that you’ll be able to seamlessly move from FM23 to FM24 on those platforms and continue your save or start a new one.

Interested in:

- Intermediaries

- Offloading players

- Coaches Debut (no idea what it means but hopefully that you can hire specialists and they will have specialist job titles 'set piece' for example)

- Quality of life upgrades (no idea what that means!!)

I love FM, always have always will.... but that graphic above looks like something from the 90's lol

Quality of life features are normally smaller features that improve the overall experience, or often in FM's case it can mean features that are designed to improve longer-term saves.

Any idea's on what 'Coaches Debut' means? You still working there? :)

This year's updates were genuinely a disgrace. They've taken everyone for mugs for years but it was actually a disgrace this year to release almost the same game and laughable claims that making a bit of text for the automatic draw is a brand new feature. Don't get me started on that timeline that must have taken about a day to make.

It's still an incredible game but we as consumers have really suffered from not having competition to FM for 15 years. If the likes of LMA Manager were still around there is not a chance FM would look the way it does now. They'd have had to introduce this new game engine they speak about next year ages ago. Just glad they're finally going to produce a new game next year because these "new" games have just been glorified squad updates for years now.

I play it that much anyway that I do just buy it but you do look at last years features and think what was the point. The timeline is very meh anyway and I don't think I used the squad planner once - even in some cases I have my assistant telling me to transfer list a player because they're "not in the squad planner" despite them being a key player!!

I always forget about what I want changed but there's one that has bugged me years and it makes me think is this just something I'm doing but it's timewasting. I'm a timewaster, absolutely unashamedly too, but I'm talking more when you're on the attack against an inferior side, pushing for a goal late on. Why the hell are my players timewasting? What in the instructions could be causing this?

The transfers and finances blog sounded great. Lots of little bits in there including development of young players (a massive bugbear on long term saves) and dynamic TV money which is also big. Not expecting everything to land and some will likely take a lot of patches/follow up versions to get right but does sound good so far.

Interesting move for the mobile version

https://www.footballmanager.com/news/football-manager-2024-mobile-coming-exclusively-netflix

FOOTBALL MANAGER 2024 MOBILE COMING EXCLUSIVELY TO NETFLIX

Football Manager 2024 Mobile will launch exclusively for Netflix members from November 6th.

Now, through Netflix’s global reach and membership base, more players than ever before can fast-track their way to footballing glory and benefit from the addition of four new languages to the game.

If you’re an existing player with a Netflix membership, you'll be able to find and install FM24 Mobile through the Netflix mobile app when the game launches in November. It will appear in a dedicated Games row on Apple phones and a separate Games tab on Android devices*.

Players can still find FM24 Mobile on the App Store and Google Play, but you’ll need a Netflix account to login and begin your next journey to footballing greatness.

If you’re not logged in to Netflix on your device, you will receive a sign-in prompt upon reaching the game’s loading screen. At this point you’ll either need to enter your Netflix account details or sign up for a new membership.

Whether you’re at home on the sofa, on the work commute or travelling to a football away day, FM24 Mobile delivers a fast-paced thrill in every career.

As detailed in our announcement trailer, FM24 Mobile’s new features and functionality will be revealed during the week commencing October 23rd.
