This certainly indicates that things are not right if a player is openly admitting this.

And yes, he is correct, we were abysmal in the first half and we wholly outfought

I’m not sure he should be criticised for saying this, I find it refreshingly honest and true.

It’s hideous….. for me that’s the signal of the state of the dressing room. Could imagine him saying that under Maresca, Pearson or even Brendan? **** me.

Wow..... Just thought I'd see anything interesting happening and this.

The thing is.....is he's just talking about himself or the rest of his teammates as well 🤷  Incredible really,....know wonder that was the worst display from them in the 1st half ever 🙄

I think people are reading far too much into his comments.

His initial couple of sentences "We weren't really at it.  Everyone, nobody in particular" just makes the point that they didn't play well in the first half.   Fair enough.

But players can't say "it was so-and-so's fault", so they just waffle a bit in typical footballer's speak ... general stuff like "we weren't up for it".   Which doesn't really mean much.

It didn't look like there was too much wrong with their attitude.   The cr*p first half was mainly an inability to pass to a player in the same colour shirt, when we had the ball.

Nah, you can’t come out and say that against a team that are sat bottom on no points….. it’s what a player in a bad headspace says. Something has irked him, considering the mood around the club, that’s a real Ill timed comment.

in his defence, he’s had a lot to do. We’ve been boxed in in every game we’ve played for large parts of the game, or stretching to chase a game to get back in it.

He’s done more defending in this handful of games than most teams will do in half a season.  I think it would be a bit harsh to say he’s not good enough in that regard when we’ve somehow not rolled over in a game yet.

I’m not necessarily saying he’s played well but I think a different team approach would have made him look a lot better.  If you spend 80% of game scrapping to survive you are going to make a fair share of gaffs :dunno:

He's the author of his own problems sometimes though ie giving the ball away and putting the whole team back under pressure. Ndidi is similar in fairness. In fairness he didn't have much cover in front of him against Everton as Ayew was nowhere near as effective there as Fatawu is in his defensive duties.

Refreshingly honest about a completely unacceptable occurrence for a Premier league football team.

**** me, do they think they are actually superior to Everton

But they did say it under Brendan? Maddison said we weren't hungry enough in a game we absolutely needed to win at end of the season ffs.

You won't find a bigger fan of Pearson but we had absolutely disgusting spells under him where players swore at our fans and didn't look arsed.

We really need to stop this rose tinted view and stop slamming Cooper for everything.

He did it twice in the first 11 minutes… and I’m not saying James is the best player in the world, but it’s just not all on him..

One thing as fans we’ve got to stop doing is comparing the past to present…. Each individual scenario needs to be looked at in context… yes, players have said things in the past, some got away with it, some didn’t. Maddison for example was Brendan’s fave, so he got away with a lot, whereas Vesty wasn’t, so he was instantly isolated.

In the context of this season, there’s a general unrest around the club, some media outlets have already reported unrest in the dressing room, and then Justin comes out saying “we weren’t up for it” when taking on a relegation rival.

Sorry, but it’s not cynical to suggest all isn’t well. There’s a direct correlation to the trash we’re seeing on the pitch, and Cooper. Justin is normally quite eloquent when he’s interviewed, and normally comes across really well, so for him to say that is out of the norm. When characters like Justin start saying things like this it normally indicates something isn’t right.

On the balance of probability, I don’t think it’s too far fetched to suggest most of the dressing room aren’t happy with Cooper.

That performance at the weekend did not suggest they were willing to fight for him, whereas Everton were scrapping for everything.

It’s the final bit that is so damming. Ok sometimes you have a shit start. It happens but  “a bit naive from us” ? That suggesting it was the mothet****ing gameplan ?

Nah Top, dickhead, I ain’t doing this again. Grow a pair.

But you've said no one would say these things under those managers? I'm saying that they did. And even if they didn't, the performances under Brendan were some of the most spineless I've ever seen. To suggest this wouldn't have happened under him is bizarre given what we did witness.

I don't disagree with what you say above but you are doing a bit of back tracking.

This is what annoys me when people just see goals down our right and blame Justin. Of course he isn't a better player than Ricardo but even Ricardo would struggle with the isolation. Fulham's first goal a good example where Vestergaard pushes up and loses the ball, Justin suddenly has two players to handle. Then you have the right winger not tracking their winger.

All of it infuriating but rarely comes down to just one player at fault.

I don't feel comfortable with Faes at centre half, never have done. Or Vestergaard either. The day we actually get quality at centre half again will be a great day.

Faes is a hideous defender.

The people that claim he’s good also raved about him on his debut when we shipped 6 against Spurs.

His best attributes are bringing the ball out, being a bit of a mad man and front footed with his defending but he’s even average at those traits.

His awful positioning, brain fart moments and absolute silence on the pitch, other when we concede and he throws a little childish tantrum have always made me despise the oaf.

Seriously you are putting 1+1 together and coming up with 5. The media clearly stated players not playing weren't chuffed, that's hardly a shock is it. That's all players at every club when out of the frame. You are taking a nothing comment uttered my managers and players up and down the country and using it as another stick to beat the manager with.

him saying that tho when most of the games we've let in this season have come down his side

I might have misread this but you’re comparing Madders to Faes in terms of his importance to our team?

WOW!!

Maybe I am, I’m rapidly developing an irrational dislike towards Cooper (as a manager, I’m sure he’s genuinely a lovely bloke)…. So naturally I’ll hang on anything that’s remotely  negative, I just want him gone as soon as possible.
