When he is allowing the opposition to get in behind or get balls into the box because of poor positioning, decision making or just crap defending, he absolutely does deserve blame

Its the same problem foxes talk has had for years, constantly blaming the defender involved directly before an opponent scores.

Luckily managers tend to be more sensible.

Is it just a massive coincidence then that around half of the goals we have conceded in the Prem this season so far have come from the play coming from his area of the pitch?

Do you think he was good today? Did you see him for their 2nd goal?

He has had a good season so far, I will call it I think many on here are a bad judge of players and performances, there is an obsession with blaming players for goals conceded and then overlooking every other aspect of their game, then the old human bias confirmation kicks in where everything good is ignored and everything bad is blown up to confirm the original opinion, which is why we see so many posts so often claiming players need to go but they still get picked.

Not I agree that he's had a good season so far. He's had a couple of cracking games but he's also been culpable for other goals, so pretty average overall. If you concede every goal down the right, don't you think that's indicative of a wider issue? Watch the first half today and Buonanotte and BEK are about 5 yards apart; there's never any cover on that side of the pitch and if the guy inside of you is Faes, it's hardly going to be squeaky clean defensively.

In a weird way you could actually argue that the issues are inside of him or the left hand side because we're giving up so many chances, and the second Justin is taken out of the game, the opposition score.

Like almost everyone, I am maddened by Ricardo's absence but personally would have him in ahead of VK and get Justin back to left, where his best football has been played. All these people saying that RB was his best position either haven't seen him play much, or don't have a clue about football.

Completely agree with the rest of the post though.

Justin is being asked to play in an advanced role to provide attacking width down that right side and the down side is he is not in as good a position when the opposition attack down our right flank. I do think having fatawu on that side adds extra legs to cover this and Justin to hold deeper as well as a proper threat on both wings. Bringing in Riccardo in that role and trying Justin on the left should be considered too as he links up well on that side in the past and has more pace than VK. I do think VK has impressed more of late and I have warmed to him but issues need to be addressed as weaknesses are punished at this level. There is an issue but Justin isn’t totally to blame.

He should play on the left and let Ricardo play RB

why he's no better there and his refusal to use his left foot often leaves us completely lopsided as a team, I want Ricardo to play as well but Kristiansen should still be starting at left back unless we go and buy a new one

But if its a weak link in the team which he is....the second goal today he made it so easy for the winger gave him to much space to skin him....

The first is a system Issue in my eyes, it’s no coincidence sides are targeting us down our right because of how we set up, but the second is just rank bad defending

It'd be interesting to see if Cooper abandons this idea of high fullbacks and just got him to go Danny Simpson and never venture beyond halfway.  To be honest there wasn't much attacking impetus from either fullback today, and hasn't been really outside of Justin getting us back into the Arsenal game.  Perhaps just having them both sit and find passes to more capable attacking players and making us more solid might be the way to go.  The idea of an overload doesn't really appear to be bearing any fruit and we're definitely got at down our flanks more than anywhere else.

First goal is sloppy but not sure what else he can actually do there he's doubled up on and no one seems interested in covering or stepping in, he does probably need to just commit to one or the other though. Completely done for the second though

Very poor today. Their winger had made 10+ crosses within 30 minutes.

I thought Cooper plays him for his physicality? He looks slow, weak, and poor in the air!

Ahh so where were. I did say last week - it’s time to give him a break.

Oh it’s the system , oh it’s other errors I was told. He’s being targeted

He's been poor on the right and today was poor on the left. If VK is fit then JJ needs dropping. He's actually our biggest liability at the moment. How many goals conceded involvments has he been in someway?
