I think Coady is actually a good leader. He helped keep Everton up but they carried him by playing 3 at the back. Did well at Wolves but again they had to play 3 at the back and eventually let him go. He's past it now though and has no business playing at this level. Average Championship player at best.

Not meaning to dismiss your opinion but not sure what you are seeing to class as a good leader.  He’s been in countless relegation battles in train wreck teams, either he isn’t good enough for a better team or he contributes to the hardship of the team.

If he’s a good leader then why doesn’t his back line listen to him, thats assuming he and those around him have identified the issue that get repeated every week.

He talks rubbish that is completely disconnected to what we have just watched and is in self preservation mode.

This is the first relegation though.

He was a bang average player but has forged a good career by his mentality. Southgate took him to tournaments with England because he's good in the dressing room. I don't mean banter but a good character. England missed that (him and Henderson) at the last Euros which was unhappy camp.

Problem this season is he's just not up to Premier League football anymore, he was never that good anyway, and he's in a shambles of a defence which makes it worse. If you put Wes Morgan at the end of his career here in this team and he wouldn't cope. He helped the club bounce straight back last season but shouldn't have captained the club in the PL when he's not up to playing there.

Luton had more of a go last season with a fraction of the playing budget, probably the lowest in the league for a long time.

Yep, and Ipswich to a lesser extent this season

By joining a club that had been relegated, he must have known that if promoted it was a tough, tough ask to stay up. His comments sound a bit like he just expected to stay up - which seems to have been a an attitude around the club. Our approach to this season was so wrong. Terrible all around.

He seems like he can't make his mind up.

He's "devestated", yet in the next breath he's talking about playing Liverpool like he works a 9-5 and plays non league footie for 50 notes a week lol

He just says what he thinks people want to hear.

Another one that should seek pastures new

Talks better than he plays. Stuck with him for another season. He's one of those players who I envision being in the new managers office waiting for their arriving to get his nose right up their backside. Speaks about not being good enough for a season but will happily take a wage and contribute nothing for another season... although this is bad.. it's not as bad as another two years of paying Vesty

Yeah on a squad that was playing in league one 2 seasons ago and had a squad on a wage 14m last season. In comparison ours was on nearly £60m per year. So there investment was needed to bring them

up to speed with top end championship clubs

I thought he meant “had a go”, Ie. Played some attacking football on the field, and tried to sign players off the field that increased their chances of staying up.

We did neither

Have to wonder whether he will have any takers after the Wolves move fell through.

Promoted side is his best chance
