What happened with him at Spurs will happen with him here.  Almost exactly.  He was good for Spurs when they played a style that suited him, but with a change of manager and the emergence of Skipp he lost his place.  The whole thing is repeating almost to the letter.  With the exception being we won't replace Skipp as well, but Cooper is not playing to get the best out of Winks and his system, if you can call it that, will be better with Skipp in instead in the long run.

He did so well for us in the Championship because he always had 2-3 options to pass to because of Maresca's system. Under Cooper every player is isolated and it's impacting Winks more than anyone.

Under Cooper it's every man for himself .

Exactly. He had Ricardo next to him, Dewsbury-Hall and Ndidi just ahead, Mavididi and Fatawu out wide, Vestergaard playing into him. Three of those options have seemingly gone and the wingers are one in, one out at present.

Is it really a surprise??? He was never good enough for Spurs, and no other Prem clubs came in for him. He's a quality Championship player and no more and I feel he was massively overrated last season.

the man is a metronome, he's reliant on getting the ball and being able to pick out runners ahead of him. Invaluable to have, but you need runners ahead otherwise it's like playing with 10. he's being killed by Coopers anti-football perversions

Can we speak about harry ?

he's been horrible

I think teams have worked out that winks is our metronome

championship sides couldn’t afford to push onto him but PL sides can do that. He’s clearly not coping well with being pressed continually

Winks is suited to the single pivot role, the team are better suited to it. In a double pivot it’s just not working. He looks frustrated, he’s losing the ball regularly and the game’s passing him by. Him and Skipp look static together and it’s no better when he’s paired with Ndidi. Our number 10 options ahead that the double pivot enables (Ndidi 👀, Buonanotte or EL) despite great endeavour aren’t really the creative game changers at this level that make a double defensive pivot effective IMO. Maybe in the future the two youngsters will, but it’s a big ask at the moment. I’ve not seen anything yet that indicates Winks has a grasp of the role he’s meant to be doing behind. He looks bewildered and frustrated.

He’s been terrible but it’s on Cooper under a better coach he thrives

This.

We have so little of the ball, even against Everton..no wonder he’s below par.

What other premier league team would he start regularly apart from us? There’s your answer.

Ipswich. Wolves. Southampton. Brentford. Everton.

Very poor for their 2nd goal

Just asleep watching Trossard jog into the box in front of him into space for a shot

He was also at fault for the first goal, Not chasing back to cover. He let the scorer run past him to score.

He needs a talking too and bring back his confidence.

The one thing you could never criticise winks for last season was effort, the amount of times he was sprinting back and diving in to tackles.

That goal today tells you something isn't right. This isn't the winks we know
