NEVER.

if he wasnt a mardy cvnt and played when he was paid handsomely  to play for us, we wouldn't be in this position.

Hes only playing well now for HIMSELF and nothing more.

You're right and we won't forget it, but for now we do need him if we are going to get out of this.

No, however that doesn’t stop people speculating.

I’m speculating that he was somewhat annoyed with playing with lower standard players and crappy tactics under Cooper, Van Nistelrooy and Cifuentes.

And herein lies the problem. Let's say it was this, which is viewed as a favourable view for Winks, it's utterly inexcusable that he downed tools under 3 managers. If he was so hot on standards, surely you lead by example and train hard every day, trying to get the others to your standards, even if addressing your concerns.

No one knows for sure what went on with him and Cifuentes or RVN. Maybe he’s someone who stands up for himself and upset their little egos. All I know is they should put the club ahead of themselves and pick the best team then we may not be in this position now!

And Cooper. So the manager should put the club first but the player shouldn't? Makes sense.

Irrelevant anyway as no way Winks' early season form made him worth picking. Somebody shared the win % stat and it's way better without Winks in the team this season.

If your equally wild speculation is  correct for those reasons , that means he is mardy and arrogant!
A true sportsman with the right attitude still always tries his/her hardest despite the issues you quote. I certainly did back in the day when I played for different amateur clubs around the city and county- and I played for some crap teams!
He did have a good game today, and tried for the 90 minutes.

Crappy tactics?

Its not the job of a player to decide what is good or bad tactics, you put in a shift no matter what.
Also same if you like the manager or not.

Its ok to be annoyed, if you keep that outside of the work place.

Do he down tools though, or was he booted out of the squad?

Let’s be realistic, something has clearly gone on (multiple times), however he is very talented player for this level. Maybe not as good as he thinks he is though?

Football Is littered with players like this. A good manager gets the best out of all of his players. You sort of don’t become good without having a bit of ego.

Interestingly I watched the Overlap episode with Bale this week and he was discussing his partnership with Benzema and Ronaldo. He spoke how about the fans, social media and everything perceived him because of how he interacted with them. He just wanted to play football and not play the game to be loved by everyone. He also said that he had to adapt his game to maybe get the best from others.

Why does this narrative that Winks has been hard done by persist?

Over the last 2 years he has done nothing to differentiate himself from those bad players and managers so why is he treated differently?

It's almost like you're allowed to pick on players like Daka, Okoli etc or managers like Cifuentes because they can't play or manage better if they tried, but Winks is allowed to sulk and play terribly because he can be a good player if he chose to be.

It should be the reverse, he should be maligned more because he is actively not applying himself.

Easily our best player today.

You can see he's sick of the circus surrounding him and to be fair I would be too.

Still a cock but I do have some sympathy.

Wow! The consequences of his own actions!

People don’t like/rate him but he’s without doubt the best and most intelligent player in the squad.

There were a lot of good performances tonight and I’m not going to say he outshone some of those but I will say he single handily swung momentum back in our favour as BC were starting to control the game from the 50ish minute up until the 69th after Winks came by on.
