He’s better than faes and coady by some distance imo. If souttar is out until December I’d much prefer him next to Nelson than either of the others. (Assuming okoli leaves)

He is one of those players who will always be the best in the Championship or the worst in the PL. But we are in the Championship now, so he is what we need currently.

"I've tried to park my ego " what an absolute twat ,it's because  of people  like him we're in this mess .Your ****ing crap on a contract you don't deserve and all you'll  do is stinking the place out till the contract ends .Tosser

It's not his fault he was given a ridiculous contract. Should never had bought him.

We have too many bang average player's on big bucks & long contracts, all thanks to Rudkin & his puppet. They are the real problem. The pair of 'em couldn't run a bath.

Awful defender but better than VVD on the ball

Lmao, no he's not better than Van Dijk on the ball.

Van Dijk can actually play accurate long balls and is famous for hitting the diagonal ball to Salah. I cant remember the last time Vestergaard played our wingers into a dangerous position.

No his diagonals aren’t as good, but honestly ( and I hate him ) Vestergaard is unmatched at slinging the ball through the lines and if you watch VVD, he’s not as good at that as Vest

For my money I'll be glad to see the back of him. He shows little respect for our supporters away from home and spends too much time embracing opposition players before shooting off down the tunnel. Hope he goes.  Dreadful manager.

Agree to disagree. Vestergaard is not 'unmatched' at slinging balls through the lines, if he was unmatched then he might be worth something to a good team despite his defensive woes.

There are many defenders across Europe that progress the ball up the field significantly better than him. What looks special when he does it is standard for a lot of players.

Look at the Everton game highlights, if Vestergaard pulls off that Tarkowski pass then that would be his best pass of the season and Tarkowski is known as a below average passer in the PL.

Being able to accurately hit a long diagonal to a forward on the other hand is fairly rare and more valuable. If you gave Van Dijk vestergaard's defensive abilities then he would still get suitors for his passing alone.

Jannik Vestergaard addresses Ruud van Nistelrooy talks after three-month Leicester City absence
Jannik Vestergaard had been a regular under Ruud van Nistelrooy until he was abruptly dropped, leading to three months where he didn't even make the Leicester City bench

Jannik Vestergaard insists there is “no bad blood” between him and Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy and that he won’t demand to leave the club this summer.

Vestergaard was dropped abruptly from the City side this season, playing regularly under van Nistelrooy until March, when he then didn’t even make the bench for the remainder of the season.

Van Nistelrooy said it was a matter of selection, with Conor Coady and Wout Faes in the starting line-up and with Caleb Okoli on the bench.

But when Faes was injured for the away trip to Brighton, Vestergaard still didn’t make the squad, van Nistelrooy choosing to go without centre-back cover.

Vestergaard, who did continue to train with City’s first team, has now played down his absence from the squad.

While he admits to frustration, he also understood that his performances were not leading to results, and said there is a mutual respect between him and the manager.

The centre-back told Danish outlet Bold: “The manager has made some other choices, but let me emphasise that it has been very frustrating not to be part of the team at all for the last part of the season.

“But I also have to admit that my time on the pitch wasn't fruitful for the team either. Therefore, it's only natural that the manager has looked for something that works and is best for the team. He has naturally looked for what could secure points and survival.

“We have had a nice dialogue. There is mutual respect and no bad blood between us. I also respect that the coach is in a situation where he has to make some difficult decisions.”

Vestergaard also divulged more on his future. Despite suggestions his contract could be cancelled and even with his Denmark manager Brian Riemer urging him to find a club where he can play regularly, the 32-year-old said this week he expects to stay at the King Power Stadium.

Pointing to the two years remaining on his deal, he said there had been no contact from City about their plans for him, and so he is ready to help the club get back into the Premier League.

Expanding on those thoughts, Vestergaard said that he won’t demand to leave the club and believes, as part of the relegated group, there is a duty for him to help the team return to the top flight.

The last time City were relegated, Vestergaard returned from the cold to play a key part in promotion and he is hoping to do the same again.

“No, I won't (ask to leave),” he said. “I don't think you can be aware of that when you have also helped to bring down a club. There must be both responsibility and a duty to help the club back up.

“When you get relegated, you do it as a team. I've always had a hard time with those who say they're not going down, even though they were part of the relegation.

“I've learned here that hard work and patience are mostly well spent. Even if the situation looks bleak, I know it will turn around at some point.”

About 4 inches I'd estimate.

Still absolutely ridiculous that this muppet has got 2 years left on his contract

Shouldn’t have even entertained talks for a new deal with him in the first place

It’s mental, isn’t it. A poster yesterday said that Soumare has been our worst signing in the last few years. It got me thinking as whether I agreed and to be honest I landed at the place that there has been so many questionable ones you can take your pick from Ward, Faes, Vestergaard, Daka, Soumare, Bertrand,

Édouard, Skipp, BDR, Coulibaly, Golding, Coady, Kristiansen and many others if you care to mention. It’s not for me a question of whether they are good enough to improve the team (which in almost every example above they haven’t) but more the lack of a coherent, strategic and data driven approach to squad building. All of this is then reinforced by the utterly ridiculous contracts that we offer.

Harsh to included those two, both brought for low fees one not fancied by RVN, the other a 18 year old kid.

In totally completely unrelated other news Filbert Fox will be a foot taller next season.

Maybe not, to complete a lap of the pitch in the 15 minute half time might be beyond him.

Will he have a dog with him
