Bar that horrendous 18 months or so that he had (where he genuinely put in some of the worst displays I've seen from a player at Premier league level) he's been brilliant for us.

It's crazy that we had players like him in the Championship. It's no surprise we were able to play him as a 10 at that level. He's top 6 class on his day. Easily.

Great to have him back last night including his missed place passes. Got around the pitch well last night and for me gotta be the holding player for remainder of the season.

Whoever started this thread is an idiot. We look a different side when he plays.

He needs someone else around him that can tackle and pass so he doesn’t run himself into the ground having to do everything.  We really miss KDHs energy and press in the middle as well.

Wilf and Okoli should be starting every match, obviously. I would say Coulibaly and Buonanote too. And it would certainly help to get Ricardo back sometime soon, because even at 70% of his best years he's still safely our best FB.

Totally agree with this. Thought he was everywhere last night. Having just come back from injury, it's no wonder he was absolutely gassed after 55 minutes.

Could make a real difference. We’ve tried to play football to run our season round, good to get some physicality back into the team. Right now I’d take a spine of Okoli, Ndidi and Daka over Vesty, Winks and Vardy just for the power and pace/

Soumare and Winks can’t play together or at least with Winks laying deep.  Soumare jogs about offering nothing in either direction and if the cbs walk out slowly ignoring the quick pass to Winks then he is redundant.

Its getting frustrating watching the defence pass around the back and create space for Soumare to just blast it back rather than turn, setting us back and Mads then pumps up the pitch for Ayew to make a perfect pass to the opposition.

You could see the drop off as soon as he came off, maybe not the player he was 3/4 years ago but still head and shoulders above the dross of alternative options we have in that position. He is genuine premier league quality and last night showed he is more than capable at this level if deployed in the correct way.

great to have him back, keeping him fit will be vital, him and Bouba were starting to form a great partnership good to see they still had that connection

Great to see him back. Enjoy him for the rest of the season because he doesn't play again in the championship for us!

I think he will. Unlikely we receive a fee high enough for us to accept.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but us surviving in the premier league, relies on him finding that form of old

If he can and we can stem the goal leak, we have a small chance of scraping through as a 17th place finish in the table

If he could find his form and we could get Ricky P back anywhere near his best we'd have a chance

When Wilf is playing well, he’d get into most teams, even now. A period a few years ago, he was destined for a big sale. That drop in form really came as a surprise and annoying it was alongside so many others falling off a cliff at the same time.

So good to see this man back in the 1st team for a Premier League fixture. We’ve missed him hugely over the past 2 months! Against a very good Arsenal midfield, I thought he and Soumare battled really well today.

Wilf is huge to our chances of staying in the league. His physicality and ability to move box-to-box not only helps our very poor defence, but provides support to our weak attack.

Yes, he’s not the complete midfielder and his distribution can be frustrating at times. Yes, he’s had a couple of bad seasons under Brendan. But he’s been back to near his best and has been for the last 18months now.

Does anyone else feel Wilf is under appreciated by the fanbase? It’s no coincidence that when he’s been injured over the last 2 months, our results have skydived. Just hope he can stay fit. Brentford on Friday is massive, need 3pts as an absolute minimum!

I think it was clear today how valuable he is to our defence and team as a whole. Nobody else gets that last ditch foot in, or last minute interception time and time again like Wilf does!

Absolutely underrated many fans were saying theyd be happy with 20mill pure profit for him and to sell him. Not realising we are just now left with the players no other clubs want. Wilf was a wanted man and thats because hes actually decent and one of our few remaining  quality players.

Yup I'd agree, wilf has in the main been great for us and certainly is looking like one of the best that's still with us. We have at least some sort of chance of winning games when he's involved....

I think Wilf became underrated after his dip in form towards the end of the Rodgers era. Before that, I think he was generally regarded very highly by our fanbase with many regarding him as the most difficult player to replace if he was unavailable, and expecting him to our next big sale at some point. It's great to see him back on form, long may it continue.

Said this a few times. Wilfs drop in form/starting to pick up regular injuries coincided with our whole drop off in form.

Needs to stay fit, then the smallest of small hope we can stay up is there. If he’s not there that smallest glimpse is gone. (Pretty much hopeless already)

Wilf has been great for us. So important over the years.

How many times over the years has he lost the ball when facing his own goal & cost us? Again today. It staggers me that we keep making that same mistake.
