Good keeper, top championship keeper but he really needs to work on his distribution, he’s awful with the ball.

Like it or not it’s a big part of the modern game

He has played pretty well as a number 2 and will be ok in championship next season but hasn’t done anything yet for a big long one yet

Danny Ward got a healthier contract extension for arguably a lot less

He did indeed, hopefully that’s the lessen. 👍

Taken up an option to extend his contract rather than it being a new contract I expect

Did we actually just make a smart business move? Wait to see how he performs as a no.1 and revisit a contract extension at the end of the season dependent on performance?

Im shocked.

The fact they have extended only hopefully shows they may have leant some lessons. He has played pretty well as a number 2 and will be ok in championship next season but hasn’t done anything yet for a big long one yet, especially while we haven’t sold mads yet.
Prove you can be number one and you can get a long contract reflecting that of a top championship keeper. In the meantime, let’s have another year and see where we are at.

I agree but it's not how this club works is it. Long contracts for everyone!

I think the club have been quite clear in the way it is stated that the club have been the ones that extended it?

Fair do’s. Perhaps I am seeing literally everything through a negative lens as far as Leicester City FC is concerned.

Well, I do hope we lessen his wages if possible.

Rodgers use to say it when we had Kasper and Ward and it wasn’t true but right now, at least while Mads is still here, we genuinely have two number 1s.

A few bits to work on but he’s starting from a very good position. A good GK coach is much needed to really nurture the talent.

I know he came through the academy but surely his contract extension is worthy of a separate article from the club? He’s been part of the first team for 2 years now

Statement FC making 2 statements? We've waited 2 weeks just for one!

Can't believe the faint praise on show here.  This guy is going to be a great keeper.  It's long, expensive contracts for rubbish that has been our downfall.  I hope we don't 'learn our lesson' and then fail to tie down the ones that are proper assets.

We'll be in a much better position to actually judge that after he's played a full season for us rather than the odd game here and there. A 2 year deal makes perfect sense at this stage.

I have to disagree with you there.

If he develops into the player that many at the club have predicted he will become for years, then by failing to tie him down we will lose him for peanuts.  We don't need to wait and see with Jakub.

Someone needs to sit down with Rudkin and explain to him slowly that when handing out contracts we just need to differentiate between the gems and the rubbish.

The lad's gonna be 25 soon, only a couple of years till he's hitting his prime years.

Why will we lose him for peanuts if he plays well this year? I would suspect there is an optional year extension available for the club. If he's tearing it up come January, then he potentially gets an extension then.

Unless he turns into Neuer/Donnarumma, even if he did, I'm not sure clubs are going to pay too much attention. I just can't see any way we lose him for peanuts if he turns out to do well this season.

I think the club have already used it this summer

Lots of chat about Wednesday's keeper elsewhere but thought Jakub's save onto the post early on was worth a mention - a barely perceptible but vital touch. No chance whatsoever with the goal obviously.

Did a steady job. Pretty quiet game bar that save. Im happy to have him as number 1.

Their keeper was made to look good. Everything was straight at him, even the two goals went in the middle of the net

He went a bit Danny Ward yesterday.

No idea what he was thinking for the first Preston goal. He was in no man’s land.

Then the 2nd one, he’s basically given him 90% of the goal to aim at and gone all starfish.

A very bad day at the office.

I didn’t see the game as on the plane but caught the highlights and surprised this is the first post on Jakub.

Sounds like everyone was 2/10 but you will lose matches at any level, with such school boy stuff from your keeper.

It was an awful mistake but it’s the first time he’s done anything like that. Let’s not pretend he’s like Ward doing that type of crap each week.

Whilst he may have areas for improving such as kicking and distribution, as a keeper and shot stopper, he’s been extremely solid in what we have seen up to now so I hope people can avoid getting on his back and support him, rather than judge him off one event.

Interestingly, everyone second coming, Mads Hermansen, conceded 3 to newly promoted Sunderland yesterday. The first a header from a long way out that he should have got to but his starting position looked poor and the third looked to go pretty much straight under him. Bad days at the office and they happen.

Yes, it was definitely out of character from him yesterday.

It happens and it’s the hardest job on the pitch as you have nowhere to hide.

Let’s hope it stays a one off, rather than unsettles him.
