One game and Harvey has turned into  Ronaldo 😂 he was a part of this mess too, wish him well mind you.

I wish him well too but not his team for obvious reasons. Shame he didn't go somewhere else.

Where are all these people telling me £38m was a good deal for Barnes? Absolute disaster of a deal from our perspective.

Barnes had to go, at 25 he couldn't afford to have a season in the Championship. I always recall Jack Butland who stayed at Stoke and it as good as ended his career, three months before relegation he was England's No1 and didn't get his move from Stoke. He stayed there for a couple more years and moved to be Palace No2 and is now 30 and at Rangers.

As for Barnes I've always likened him to Mo Salah, maybe not quite as good but a top PL player who Brendan sucked the life out of like he did most of the squad over the last two years. Two years left on his contract and we had to sell if we got a reasonable offer, I hope he smashes it at Newcastle and he is very capable of doing it, you don't often see players in the style of Barnes who is direct, very quick and can score goals.

Maddison joint vice captain at spurs

How’s he managed that then?! They must have a lack of leaders for him to walk in as vice captain.

Don’t get me wrong Coady will be our captain and he’s only been here a few months, but madders isn’t on Coady’s level of leadership.

Barnes through on goal is what he’s really good at and what we’ll miss most. Against Huddersfield we got in behind about 5/6 times but their back line managed to recover whereas Barnes just pulls away.

Villa’s tactics were awful especially that high back line, it was BR-esque.

One thing I won’t miss is Youri get done for pace time after time and seeing him blowing out of his arse.

Him breaking his ankle in Germany was what stopped his career.

Sounds like Youri was miles off the pace. Hardly a surprise that he's burnt out; just over 500 career appearances having not long turned 26 and not exactly being a fitness monster. Shame really as on his day, he's a very classy operator but you can see it a mile off when he's having a torrid.

Wasn't there a Brendan pov on this? Something along the lines that YT had to be involved in as many first team games as possible, in order to keep fit. So, yes, hardly a surprise that he looks burnt out.

Odds on that Barnes and Maddison will both be regulars in the England squad now.

I hope so. Both deserve far more credit than we gave them, both genuinely cared and wanted us to do well.

All my hate goes towards Brendan and rudkin

Barnes will flourish at Newcastle..

Maddison on the other hand will struggle at Tottenham!!

100% I have nothing but good things to say about the pair of them. Annoying though that they will now be part of the England set up because they've joined "big" clubs. Their performances for us, even including last sesosn when we were relegated, warranted them both being in the squad. Barnes has a fair bit of competition for the wide positions but I'd rather see him in the squad than Sterling

I think they will both do well. Spurs may do better under big Ange and I think the Spurs fans will quickly take to Maddison when they see how good he is technically and his set pieces and passing ability. He's technically one of the best English players around in my opinion.

absolutely!

Barnes in particular is going to flourish I think.

We were never able to play him at the same time as a deadly rw. The extra space he will get now because newcastle have threats all over will get him so many more chances and we all know he takes most of them when they come.

It’s going to hurt but I think this season will show what he could have done for us if we’d got some of our recruitment right.
