Not sure we're the ones with our pants down.

 

We've had him a year early for a nominal fee, meanwhile they're deprived of him. They've locked themselves into a sale value that can't account for how well he does this season.

 

And as soon as we go up and sign him permanently in the summer he's instantly worth at least twice as much as we paid.

It's like €18m IIRC for a kid that had barely played any senior football in Europe and if I understand it correctly, the reaction in Portugal was that he hadn't quite delivered on what was some crazy hype when they first signed him? 

 

Think he cost them near fvck all as well so this is the classic Portuguese buy dirt cheap and sell on quickly for a rapidly gained, significant profit. The big three in Portugal are masters at this. 

 

Don't get me wrong, if he carries on his current trajectory he'll be well worth the money from our side and we might end up making a sizable profit off him ourselves if he really does reach the heights. 

 

But make no mistake, it's a very good deal for Sporting for a lot of money that's almost certainly vastly more than his current market value. The fee for Yunus is a lot more on point.

Whilst the fee in the summer does look high for an untried 19 yr old, it is only triggered if we are promoted and he plays a certain number of games. If he did not live up to expectations then he would not have been given the starts so no deal.

as it is, they will get a decent fee, and we will have a good player with huge potential, who seems to love it here and whose value will increase rapidly if he maintains his current trajectory.

it’s a win win all round really

Pretty sure it’s along similar lines, except the fee is lower at around £12m

Afaik, it’s the same 

but I reckon we may well be playing him sparingly to avoid having to buy

I think he’s a very good footballer who is improving and seems determined to succeed. I just have a hunch that he’ll turn out to be a good ‘un if we stick with him. I accept others may view him differently.

The Prem is that little bit quicker and less physical. Think he'll do well once settled into the country. 

He'll need to properly hit this summer to get into better shape
