Abdul Fatawu Signs

Would that mean that our FFP position maybe isn't that bad and we can afford to pay the fee for Fatawu this year?

Think it just means we’ve chosen him over Yunus which makes sense

However, while signing the loan contract with Leicester City, Sporting inserted a clause stating that the 2016 Premier League winners could sign Issahaku for €17 million if he played 60% of games and the club gained promotion to the top flight.

Leicester City are currently nine points clear at the top of the Championship table and Issahaku has already started 72% of games.

60m euro release clause??????

I remember reading that when Sporting signed him up he was considered such a hot prospect that they inserted a massive release clause in his contract. The fact that they’re prepared to let him go for much less suggests they’ve changed their mind about him.

If he can improve his finihshing and output then he would a top class player.

9 assists isn't bad but 3 goals in the Championship in 27 games is slightly concerning.

He’s obviously still very raw. He’s infuriated me the last few games with decision making. Don’t know if he’s been instructed to cut in and float these crosses over towards mavididi. Would prefer if he took his man on more. He’s absolutely rapid.

A source close to Sporting CP confirmed to 3Sports: “It’s all formalities now, just waiting till the end of the season to complete the paperwork.”

The formality being actually having to get promoted first >_<

60% of games means he'd need to play 28 games this season out of rhe 46 games season. He's currently played 27.

Would just be our luck he gets injured in training and is out for the rest of the season meaning he's only played 58% of games and Sporting turn round and say €60m please

He's a good player but he really needs help with his finishing.

He tries to hit everything to hard when hitting the Target is what's needed.

Anything on Target has to be saved which means it's down to the Keeper.

Skying them over the bar makes it so easy for the Keeper.

If he could shoot aswell, he wouldn't be playing for us right now ;) (The same could be said for Mav.)

Let's hope he can work on it at least aswell as Barnes did.

Absolutely. Clubs like us rely on finding the rough diamonds and refining them.

Common in Portugal and Spain to stop richer clubs getting someone on the cheap. They just do it the right way with a huge fee, unlike when we have done it in the past. He hadn't become what they hoped so agreed a lower fee.

If he can sort that shot out when he cuts inside then he’ll be class. Wastes far too many of those atm

I agree with this I watched him at the Stoke match and was fortunate enough to see one of his shots bend just wide of the sticks, if he can master this his goals tally will increase, he gets into good positions, to release a shot.

When he cuts in and shoots, it’s always high and wide. If he could just learn to hit the target, he’d score loads.

Apparently there are forfeits in training for wayward shots that should be on target and he’s top of the league in paying them.

That's not surprising given what we've seen. I'm surprised someone hasn't helped him with this issue before now.

He's just trying too hard to score.

Barnes was the same in his first few seasons here but then became a good finisher. Hopefully the same will happen to Abdul

It's really the only way that clubs like us can compete with the big boys & still stay within the FFP guidelines.  Buy low - Sell high & keep developing home grown through the academy.
