Toughest test we’ve had, good to see us come through it. If Sunderland can find some composure in the final 3rd they’ll make the playoffs with the quality and commitment they showed this evening.

Interesting that first half possession was only 51% and we looked the more knackered in the final 10 minutes. A really good to test that Enzo will take a lot from.

Today shown the character of the team, things didn’t always go our way but we still came through. Great football from us in the second half, and should have been ahead by more, credit to Sunderland though who really came at us throughout and weren’t there to just park the bus

I think we’ll win this league with possibly a record points tally.

But what I saw tonight tells me that it won’t be because we are a particularly good side.
It’s primarily because the standard of the opposition in the Championship is pretty awful.

Sunderland tonight carved us open many times but could not hit a barn door. Claims that they were the best side we’ve played are true to an extent that they came and had a go. But in the final third they were woeful.

The summer will be interesting. This season, we are SO much better than the opposition that they might as well crown us champions now.

But boy, will we have to invest in the summer or it’ll be another very tough season I imagine.

But, for now, get your money on City getting 100 points for the season. The opposition this season are rubbish by comparison.

It brings me back to my belief that the top flight and the second tier are worlds apart and the gap just gets ever bigger.

Superb result. Could've been 5-0 to us, could've been 3-1 to them, probably deserved to be about 2-2. A proper good game for the neutral but very nervy for us at times.

I'll take 1-0 after that. The run goes on. Eventually we'll wear Ipswich, Leeds, etc. down as well and hopefully the gap will keep growing.

We can't take anything for granted but it's brilliant to know that the players aren't believing their own hype and can still grind out results.

Casadei and Mavididi were standout for me tonight.

I reckon they both drop points tomorrow

That was a great win.

Bit worrying how easily they just ran through us though, especially in the second half.

Good little reality check as it’s the first game in 13 that we haven’t controlled from the start.

My man of the match would probably be Ricardo. Covered the centre-backs well while linking up in his normal inverted midfielder role, and despite Roberts having a lot of the ball, he kept him quiet in terms of being able to create chances. The amount of times he had to track back and get a block or tackle in when someone else lost the ball was impressive.

Think Dewsbury-Hall did well and it was probably difficult with not having Ndidi next to him. Casadei took a while to get into the game but 2nd half he was much better.

Credit to Sunderland, mind. They pushed hard all across the pitch but their finishing was terrible.

Odd game, as if you looked at the stats it looks like we dominated in terms of shots on target and actual close chances.

Sunderland came to win and had a plan. Made it tough for us.

Good game to watch too – probably for the neutrals too.

Look forward to Leeds dropping points tomorrow.

Players are learning how to do the Maresca.

Maresca is learning how to do top flight.

It has to be said, the standard of finishing in the Championship leaves a bit to be desired.

Absolutely . I felt that they could have played another 90 minutes and not scored . Plenty of possession and turnovers but they were very poor with goal attempts

Nice to see a team actually come and try to match us - I expected to be every bit as tough as it was but their dynamism was even more impressive than I thought and tactically spot on. We never got control of the game and ended up playing it exactly as they wanted. They desperately lack a centre forward.

Second half, apart from the last 15 minutes was a lot better than the first (even then Sky got a hit excited about non chances), a bit more control and should have made it 2 and been more comfortable.

Think we struggled with the switch in defence and our passing accuracy is down at 82%. Didn’t like us start going long, didn’t help things. Most interested to see what Enzo says today

Tough test, Sunderland gave us a good game. They should have had a penalty first half, but with the chances we had and the saves Patterson made, it could’ve been more comfortable. Casadei had a very good game bar his finishing. Good to see us grind it out when needed
