He's the same age as Doyle. I'd like to think we've got a half decent shot at signing Doyle permanently, Brunt and him could be a fantastic long term partnership for us.

I don’t think you meant Brunt here…

I could see him ending up at Lincoln City on loan, they need defensive cover.

ugghh... they feel like the  graveyard loan not the first step to stardom. no offense Lincoln people!

Business move. Doubt he’ll ever be anywhere near the plan for us.

Good move for him and we probably think it’s an avenue to milk a Champ/L1 club for a million or so profit.

If he does break into the squad properly, great.

Perhaps that's the strength. Defenders generally tend to come into their prime a little later as experience is more telling in that third of the pitch.

A winger, for example, can lose the ball ten times in a loss without it being an issue. A defender can make a single mistake and it cost the game. There's less room for error.

Perhaps being good at that age is three strength.

Hard to make any solid judgment given the situation when he came on but I thought he looked very comfortable in possession. Could be a really useful option to rotate with Wout and Vesty for the rest of the season

Might shut his father up!!😂😂😂

Can only imagine the opposite.

He was an embarrassment in a pre match bar at Tranmere, he's going to be insufferable now.

He’s looked comfortable on the ball and very capable in the few mins I’ve seen him at Tranmere and yesterday. We seem to have a much better route for academy lads into the first team these days which is excellent (and perhaps helped by dropping down to a lower standard).

I met his dad at Tranmere as well, he seemed like a nice fellow.

How long did it take for him to tell you he was Ben Nelson's dad? A micro second?

Don't get me wrong, he came over a nice bloke but there's being proud and then there's a weirdness to going round the bar striking up very strange random opening lines of conversation with just about every fan in there (and outside) only to follow it up with, and before you can get a single word out in a bewildered response, "I'm Ben Nelson's dad"

I do think there was someone he missed out a few streets away but when I saw him telling another table outside I jokingly told him I didn't rate him and couldn't see a future for him. He took it in good humour tho.

Anyway, his kid did well yesterday on his league debut so hopefully he kicks on to a a great carrier with us.

I'm not sure I agree with you here. Nelson is a fantastic player and I personally believe he'll mature into the type of defender managers like Enzo love having, a great, modern central defender, comfortable with the ball and not shy to get stuck in. I can see him having a very decent future

Appreciate that mate and you’re probably right. My post was a bit harsh and uneducated. I hope you’re right.

Nelson has a had a tiny stall in his career over the last year between Brendan under using him in during an injury crisis and not getting a loan this year - but he has more than enough potential to be a Premier League centre half with Leicester. Needs to be managed and used correctly now be it another loan or Enzo giving him his chance.

signing a deal until he is 24, we must be very confident that he will make it. I’m sure he must have a decent deal on the table as well

He'll only be 23 by 2027, he's not 20 till next year.

Remember seeing him in preseason a few years back and he looked good even then. Surprised he hasn't been involved more. Big, strong, left footed and doesn't treat the ball like a bomb.
