Okay 2023 is finally up, in what has been a mixed bag yeah. From witnessing horror of relegation in May we now enjoy being top of the championship tree at Christmas and cruising ourselves to the league title ending this i thought it would be go to see every nominations for the following categories.

Villa was good but we weren’t in control half as much as we were against Spurs. We battered them. At Villa Park we rode our luck quite a bit.

POTY: KDH, though honourable mention for Faes and Vestergaard in second half of the year. 
 

GOTY: Winks at QPR 

 

Performance: 4-2 vs Spurs, though much prefer our current team and style 

 

Worst Player: Tie between Ward and Youri

 

Worst Result: Many options… Bournemouth 1-0, Fulham 5-3, Everton 2-2 also felt shite at the time. 2-0 defeat to Forest, that dire Saints side did the double over us… 

 

Poster of the year: I really appreciate the tactics posts, a number of good contributors on that topic, but has to be @StriderHiryu for me. @Daggers in a close second for the memes.

Genuinely the only awards that matter. 
 

And it’s @Raj, he’s the most likely to be dry humping your Mum’s leg - but only if she’s not fast on her feet or he’ll never be catching her. 
 

The biggest fart nuggets will be the saps who spend every first half predicting disaster and the second half going quiet or filling the match thread with “well if we hadn’t scored three times we’d be losing”.

Most loathed: Maddison.
 

His total vocal support of Brenda and slagging off any criticism stank the whole place out. His little bunch couldn’t wait to get their little mitts on a new payday contract. The Wish Grealish will never redeem himself in my eyes. 
 

Most hopeless: Zak Rodgers. 
 

How is this man still in a job? Not just football management but any job? Name it, I bet you he’d bring a whole new level of fvckery to it. Car parking, burger flipping, office cleaning, offputting toilet attendant man - he would be disaster out at them all…and yet he’d still have two thirds of our fanbase arguing he was doing a spectacular job despite clear evidence that the toilet is on fire and the stalls are piled high with corpses. 
 

Best club communication: unawarded
 

Aside from the pathetic “sorry not sorry because nasty people are getting at me”, which wasn’t so much a piece of club communication as a misplaced teen angst private diary entry, there’s been nothing. No contrition. No proper apologies. No action plan. No identification of errors and weak personnel. Nothing. KPFC über alles continues to take the piss out of all of you and you lap it up. 
 

Best recovery: Vestergaard

 

Alcoholics Anonymous have never witnessed a personal salvation journey like this. From universally reviled by fans and club, cast out from the squad, to becoming the player of the season and the cornerstone of the new style of play. I’ve never seen the like - or the fact that some cockwands on here still want him gone.

As well as being one of the most inept and self interested board of directors in football, KPFC are one of the luckiest. Appointing Maresca with his brief history of management failure was just bizarre from a group of people who urgently needed to correct their last few years of serial failure. Especially when you consider this man was selling the idea of an ongoing project over instant success. But way to luck out. 
 

The STFU you FT idiots award: KDH

 

Whether it being constantly attacked for his foot preference, the fact that he was only good enough to be a defensive midfielder or that he wasn’t good enough to be playing at this level - Deewbs has proven them all wrong time and again with his engine, passing, assists and goals.

Honestly well done. Despite it happening every single week, some of you go all out to make yourselves look equally stupid in the very next one. And the next. And the next.
 

You complain about the style of play, the lack of attacking options, how tippy-tappy play makes us vulnerable, how our best players aren’t good enough - and then they score. And then we win. And you go quiet until you do it all over again during the following game.

Honorable mention for all the Leeds fans on here who were extrapolating form tables of whatever the required amount of games required for Leeds to catch us. How many games is it now?

I think I have them all on block apart from the Bear and the Notts County one. I find going on other club forums a bit odd and that wave of Leeds fans was beyond tedious.

Player Of The Year: KDH - he got so much stick and people saying that he was overrated because he is “one of our own”, but he’s the best player in the Championship 

 

Goal Of The Year: It could be the Mendy one, but that ultimately meant little. I might go Winks against QPR for a very important win

 

Team Performance of the Year: West Brom away as it was a win from nowhere and made me believe this team is really pulling together 

 

Best Atmosphere of the Year: Can’t think of one as I only go to home games 😃

 

Best Away Trip of the Year: See above

 

Best Result of The Year: It’s probably the Spurs 4-1, but hopefully the Southampton 4-1 away win will ultimately prove to be the most important 

 

Worst Player of the Year: Has to be Ward, although I feel a bit sorry for him. He should have been taken out of the side a long time before he was 

 

Worst Result of the Year: Bournemouth. Started to lose hope after that game

 

Foxes Talk blogger of the year: I’m not really one to follow people, but there are some who go the extra mile to keep us informed: @StriderHiryu with all the tactics analysis and @moore_94 with the updates on loans and press conferences …. both come to mind

Player: Nobody has been consistently good for the whole 12 months but will agree with KDH. Honorable mention for Vesty and N Didz for their comebacks and Ricardo, who gives an above average performance more often than not and seemed like one of the players who actually gave a shit last season.

 

Goal: Winks at Loftus Road

 

Team Performance: Spurs at home, as bad as Spurs were.

 

Best atmosphere - bit of an esoteric one but Cardiff at home. Was the first game I'd been to under Maresca and the lack of goal music and general good vibe around the ground was wonderful after the preceding 18 months.

 

Best away trip - WBA. Was in the home end which was quite a challenge when Winks scored.

 

Best result - WBA. Really thought they were going to get the winner then it swung totally the other way, and we haven't looked back.

 

Worst player - Ward. I don't hate him but he is very poor not only for the PL but also this level.

 

Worst result - worst performance was probably Fulham, which was disgraceful, but Everton at home was the worst result. Relegated us.

Famous at last 

I went to see County play in the fourth division when they had terraces. Dads bought their lads; the three kids played with cars on the ground all match and the Dads used Trivial Pursuit cards to fashion some kind of game that involved drinking from hip flasks. I found the overwhelming sense of ambivalence towards the match exceptionally endearing.
