Enzo Maresca Pre-Match Press Conference vs Birmingham

Ndidi back in a couple of weeks?

“No it’s not correct. He didn’t understand “couple of weeks”. It’s not weeks. It’s as we said at the start. It’s three months. He didn’t understand.”

Choudhury available?

“Yeah, he’s available. We consider him for tomorrow’s game.”

Fresh injuries?

“They are all available.”

Casadei?

“It was a big surprise for all of us. He was playing minutes and was getting better game after game. They are the owner and they decided to take him back. It was a surprise for us in this moment.”

Even shorter in midfield?

“Since we started, in all our games, we always played with Cesare or Wilf, one of them. We tried to adapt to manage the situation with Ricardo and Kiernan. But Wilf and Cesare’s skills are different from Ricky and Kiernan in terms of physicality.”

More pressure to bring players in?

“It’s not about pressure. It’s about if we can or if we cannot. We cannot do anything at the moment.”

Thomas?

“Luke was already on loan, he came back and then moved again. It was a normal move.”

Birmingham?

“They try to react to the situation. They are very aggressive. They are trying to do something different. They are much more aggressive. Sunderland were very intense and they are trying to do something similar.”

Same as Mowbray's Sunderland?

“The idea is more or less the same. But because the players are different, it’s not exactly the same.”

FA Cup?

“We said many times, it’s an important competition. But we need to manage a bit the squad because we have a game on Tuesday. We have to manage many things. We’re going to play after two or three days so we need to manage that.”

What does FA Cup mean to you?

“It’s very nice, especially because you go to Wembley. It’s not easy. It gives every a chance to go to the next round. We are focused on tomorrow’s game and hopefully we can win.”

Young players played against Millwall, same again?

“It will be a chance for them, it will be a chance for more players from the second team. We try to involve players who have had less minutes and players from the second team.”

Vardy back?

“Jamie is a reference in this club for all of the young players because of what he has done in the last 10 years. He has been injured for two months but hopefully we can use him more.”

Financial situation?

“We need to sell to bring in. At the end it’s not difficult because we are happy with the squad. But with internationals and injuries, we are short. But we don’t definitely have to sell.”

‘But we don’t definitely have to sell.’

Translation, anyone?

Basically just making people aware we’re not having a fire sale.

Thats the thing with ffp there becomes this image that everyone is available but we wouldn’t sell someone we want in the squad, without a silly offer and even then, we’ve been known to hold firm

Did we as fans know that Wilf is out for 3 months? That's a ****ing disaster. We need two CMs ASAP.

We've played the same amount of games as everyone else, and had the luxury of rotating more than most teams in the division. We've also controlled possession in so many games, so have done a lot less chasing. Absolutely no reason why we should look shattered.

Mentality, physicality, fragility, Claudality….

Somehow I've ended up paying for 5 tickets for this game.

First of all it was meant to be my son, my daughter and me and then my son invited his girlfriend and then my daughter invited her mate

£110 later (Inc some train fares) bloody hell 😳😂 probably to watch the 2nd team against an under strength Brum team 🤔😂

All depends on how we approach the game, it'll be a test but our rotated team is still capable of beating the majority of this league. I think it'll be a 3-2 win again.

Very true. I just don’t think it’s wise to play players like Praet, who in his last performance just ambled around the field like he’s rather be elsewhere. Would be nice to see Alves though, good opportunity to throw him in maybe?

It’s actually a big test, I’m starting to have some small concerns about Enzo’s application of his philosophy, is he starting to show a bit of Rodgers with his stubbornness and on occasion a lack of want to be flexible……. Might be reading too much into it, but I’d be lying  if I said I didn’t have some concerns.

To be fair earlier you said we were going to get hammered so i would class them as a bit bigger than 'small concerns' as we havent been hammered since Enzo took charge.

Its a tough game of course but we need to rotate to give the players on the bench a good run out and hopefully get some hunger to challenge the first team as currently i dont think any of them do.

Praet in his couple of appearances, he had a couple of assists, and assist to assisting move…Bad assing players don’t mean they didn’t perform..

Don’t agree with those who have said this game is less important, as after the way the last two played out we could do with a win here. Granted it’s one defeat in ten but it feels as though we could be on the cusp of hitting a rocky patch. So progression into the next round would help keep the league momentum going.
