In the refs defense, the linesman is the one who called it. With players between the ref and the ball you can see why he didn’t overturn the decision..

I've been saying this forever, that's exactly why VAR should always do, at the very very least, offside. 

 

A human will never, ever be able to reliably and consistently give offside. It's not possible for the ref and linesman to always see that. 

 

I don't really blame the officials there. To everyone at first glance it looks like Daka was off.
