You can't really estimate average first-team player wage based on the headline figure

£172m was spent on all staff wages/salaries. There were 87 players in all age groups and 408 administration staff. £8m spent on BiK and £26m spent on NI and pensions.

I hate Brendan but they could’ve just told him to get gone at any point like Wolves did with the Spanish fella, and actually ran a sustainable business at EPL level.

Rodgers was playing the passive aggressive 'pay me off' for at least 12 months before he went. He didn't want to be here but wanted the pay off. That side should never have gone down but Rodgers had downed tools.

So does this mean even if we are promoted, we will probably have to sell our major assets (KDH, Mads, etc etc)?

As a bare minimum. We will basically be fielding Danny Ward and some of the U17s

Only if we don't want to fall foul of P&S. The club state in their accounts that they forecast we will fall foul though, so who knows what they plan to do.

If we go up, we will still need to shift anyone who is on a decent wage - it’s this that’s crippling us.

If we can somehow re-establish ourselves in the EPL we’ll have to go back to our plan of buying players for £10m-15m on sensible wages, improving them and selling for a profit. We need to forget about the idea of being able to challenge the rich teams again, those days are long gone

Top, Susan and Rudkin all need to go, now.

Who would be the alternative.

Rich Americans, Chinese, Saudis - who have no idea of how to succeed in running a football club?

Doesn't really matter as much when we have 6 out of contract anyway including our highest earner.

And all the time he played Ward in goal who was letting in about 3 goals in every match and only dropped him when well known TV journalists questioned why he was still playing him....but it was to late and the damage was done we didn't have enough games to turn our fortunes around

Oh no people who have no idea how to run a football club, what a drastic and disastorous change of pace that would be :o

You might joke, but we could seriously be in a much worse situation, despite this embarrassment - ask Derby or Reading fans.

A fool and his money are easily parted - I have always been genuinely amazed that Top has signed off on the deals we have given out over the last few years - he is out of his depth and trusted the wrong people - the scary thing is he, or people around him, has not been able to see this.

I mean, losing £1m a week means we are probably heading in that direction...

And in turn they could ask Bury or Macclesfield fans. There is always someone in a worse situation than you but that doesn't mean your situation isn't bad or worth complaining about.

It was huge the year before, but obviously it’s been exacerbated by  loss of European tv rights and finishing lower and additional spending
