Given he played for the club for 10 years do we know if there are plans to have a testimonial for Albrighton?

Personally think it's pretty poor for the club to not have had one for Morgan and Schmeichel considering they captained us to the two biggest trophies we've ever won. I get that they both left in and around Covid but I think it's time we held one for them all.

I'd imagine that a game during the first international break of the season would go down a treat with fans.

Get the lot back for a big day. Feel like every other club would want to honour their legends like that.

I thought testimonials were effectively like a retirement payment to the outgoing player? Hence why they never seem to happen anymore.

I was of this opinion too.  There arent too many players who have played in the premier league for a period of time that will be in need of a few quid these days

Do other clubs bother anymore either? Just seems to be something largely vanishing from the game.

Would definitely be nice to have like a 15/16 reunion charity match in a couple go years to mark the 10 year and to have a bit of a send off given its likely going to be the last of Vards then if we he gets a two year extension.

Thought the club announced a few years ago that there would be no future testimonials.  Andy King didnt get one either.    They were arranged to top up players pensions but they don't need thst these days

I might be wrong but I'm sure the club said (at the time) that they would do one in the future for Kingy as they couldn't at the time when he left during Covid.

even if the players don't need the money, I think if they had a massive charity match and had a few of the old guys back at the same time, then this could be of benefit to everyone..

give the fans the chance to say a proper goodbye.

Might be tricky choosing the manager though!

maybe have 2 sides? still would be difficult choosing the managers!

Charity events now - more than retirement payments

None of the players played under him

well, that's ok.. if we are going to go for a full on charity game with two Leicester sides, im sure the likes of Muzzy or Walsh could make a guest appearance.. some of the others, maybe from thatEra..

Ranieri, depending on if he has employment or not might not think its appropriate to manage another team.. seems like Pearson's full time manager career is over for health reasons so he'd be ok for a game.

i'd be happy with either of those three if we could make it happen

Usually goes to charity.

Steven Gerrard as an example, his testimonial at Liverpool raised 500k which he then donated to charity.

I think back in the day when players werent earning like they do now it was a retirement lump sum, I can't imagine anyone playing in the top league keeping the money.

I'm good with that.  These days I'd feel a bit aggrieved to pay an admission fee to give more money to millionaires (although I do it every other week to the king power gang 🙄).  Charity benefitting is a good call.

I believe Niall Quinn set the ball rolling on the charity testimonial, he was, if not the first, certainly one of the early retirees who wouldn't take a penny & donated all proceeds to charity.

but, as has been mentioned, the clubs cant be bothered these days.

It'd make more sense to have a tournament that is open to all players and brings it into the modern era.

So, something like a Jeux San Frontiers - where players compete for a thick brown envelope, chase a 15yr old girl into a hotel room, or battle with journalists to keep a story out of a newspaper. That's what primetime audiences want.

At a time when we’ve had so many legend go without one, it makes more sense to do a collective tittle winners reunion 10 years after the win IMO.
