well if owners/chairman of football clubs have cottoned on yet that Liam Rosenior was the brains when Rooney was at Derby then something is gone

all the other jobs rooney has been at hes been a massively failure

Not surprised he's been sacked.

If he really wants a career in management, he needs to take time out. Maybe go become an assistant or take time in the youth set ups

That'd be too much like hard work and study for his badges.

Nah he'll go straight to punditry IMO.

No surprise in Rooney going. His track record prior to joining the Pilgrims wasn't brilliant and it seems they went for the name.

Probably end up at Everton after Dyche's removal.

Why the glee in seeing Rooney sacked, why do we mock the likes of him, Gerrard, Lampard, Rosenior etc just because in our heads we see elite players daring to go into management thinking they will be a success just because of their name…I bet they don’t think it.

Taking Rooney, Plymouth are a basket case of a club other than a good season 22/23 getting promotion to the championship they will struggle with relegation (in the main) in what ever league they have been in & were a Lge 2 side as recent as the 19/20 season.

The thing with those names is they almost need to go to attractive clubs, but again how dare they think they can manage an established club or they have only got the gig because of their name. But footballs changed as has fan’s expectations of what they want from their Saturday afternoon, they want to be entertained & these names fall foul of this in trying to set up their teams to play whereby the old regurgitated names will play a low block hoof ball and think well it doesn’t matter it’s Plymouth what do people expect.

These guys are 4yrs into management cutting their teeth, learning about themselves and the job as they go but on the outside with a haa you have bounced from job to job failing with shitty little clubs just give up.

No wonder this article came out the other day about English managers with ex-LCFC’s Micheal Appleton, because we hound them out before they can actually grow.

Mainly as they're terrible manager's there were hired based on their name rather than their qualifications or ability.

The real shame is that good quality managers in the championship are overlooked for Prem jobs. The Premier league has so much money that almost every club can cherry pick all but the most talented managers from anywhere in the world. So unless you're a particularly outstanding candidate when held up against your peers across the whole globe, you're unlikely to get a chance.

It's not some weird mad bias against English coaches.

I like Rooney's tenacity at wanting to succeed in management, I would like to think he'll drop a league or two and try and build something at a lower league club.

He needs to sort his issues with alcohol before he gets anywhere if the rumours are to be believed.

Rooney should have done what RVN has done and had the humility to work in assistant roles for a few years and learn his trade.

I strongly suspect that this is probably it for him now, as he simply has too many failures on his CV before the age of 40 to cut it.

Silver spoon feeding.

Not had to graft as a coach yet walks straight into a championship club on his first appointment.

Some lower level manager graft for years, volunteering, training and learning at multiple levels or clubs only for a ex decent player to walk into their dream job.

Stoke to appoint Mark Robins?

Be a good appointment- in theory !

Confirmed.

If he's given enough time I can see them improving by the end of the season and possible playoff contenders next season.

Mark Robins would be a decent appointment for Stoke. West Brom i think would make a mistake missing out on him.

Good job for Robbins tbh, he'll improve them no doubt and he doesn't need to move house either.

This report kinda suggests he’s not Billy big bolloxs whilst also highlighting what my post suggested in that Plymouth is a basket case of a job, smallest squad, budget and crippled with injuries to his best players.

I think any manager would struggle to keep them in the championship tbh & again as my post alluded to he fell foul of trying to get a progressive tune out of a limited club.

I stick by why do people have to hate just because he’s a name.
