I just wondered if anybody has watched him play this year and if he’s nowhere near the grade but under contract should he not be out on loan to a League 2 club?

PSR fiddle if you haven't realised yet.

It was pretty clear to anyone who's seen him play! It’s a great example of a well intentioned rule being bent and abused by those who can, in this case Chelsea who used it to build an entire business model on essentially trafficking young footballers. Is he good enough, would he have made it at Chelsea… who knows. But I bet he never dreamt of moving to the East Mids as an 18yr old.

There was a recent game I saw the highlights of (can't remember who against) where he looked good in possession and made a fine run forward centrally, got into a good position outside the area with a pass on that could've put a teammate in but instead he shot and missed.

Based on that one instance alone (because I've seen barely anything of him) he looks to have some of the raw ingredients in an attacking sense but lacks composure and decision-making.

As I say, it was one moment and he could normally be better or worse than that :dunno:

Absolutely not. I’ve said it many, many times. He is nowhere near good enough for this level of football.

It was nothing more than a PSR exchange, Chelsea binned off a player they knew wouldn’t make it and got £8m for him.

We paid £8m for Golding!?

Thought it was widely reported as £4-5m. Almost the same amount Chelsea overpaid for KDH 🤔

He just looks slightly awkward when I’ve seen him. Almost like a toddler who has had a growth spurt and isn’t quite used to the new size he is. That said, I hope he does make a career out the game either here or elsewhere.

I know the go to phrase is 'PSR fiddle', but, you do need to look at the net impact of what has happened.

Chelsea got a player they could use, although undoubtedly played less than if he was in our squad. The player developed himself during that year and played in a team that won trophies. Player was moved to Everton and is now playing at the best standard he has of his career.

We ended up with a player that was worse than those we already had in our academy, who hasn't developed at all and likely got in the way of other prospects in our academy.  We have to continue to deal with the player, who ceiling is likely L2.

And we are going to get done for PSR anyway, and Chelsea won't.

Exactly this.

When we signed him he was highly rated at Chelsea and was regularly moving up through the England youth teams and was captain at under 17 level

19 now and seemingly it just isn’t working for him in our under 21s and is being outshone by other players younger than him

Not sure we would be able to get him a loan in League One/Two, but even half a season at top end of National League level might help him finally kick on a bit

Regardless of whether it was done for PSR, he came here quite highly rated by Chelsea and the FA. One that yes hasn’t kicked on, but has also been mismanaged. Should have been out on loan to at least league 2 by now.

Chelsea 'highly rate' the player they are happy to dispose of in a PSR fiddle, but turns out not to be that good after all. I dont think he is good enough to get a L2 loan.

Sell Winks, Recall Braybrooke and use him, loan Newport Golding. Simple

I just do see any club buying Winks.  Wages too high & he's free in six months.

Because they've been far smarter and their owner/executives actually give a shit. We deserve all the shit thrown at us out of stupidity.

We've had PSR/FFP issues following us around for years and only thought to fight it legally (expensively too). We had a PSR swap foisted upon us by Chelsea and never thought to do it ourselves - really dumb. Newcastle, Forest and Villa all did it to make more headroom and were happy to engage in these swaps so the options were out there.

We break the rules in the most stupid and supine ways, like not submitting our accounts on time, like thinking we'd been in Europe twice so we always would be (???), like spending almost £50m on Skipp, Ayew and Okoli...

why do people think because he is shining in league 2, that he can lead a charge up the  championship?

what has he done for us so far to suggest that?

if anything, loan him to a league 1 side second half of the season and take a look at him next year..

Newport are bottom of league two and lost to a national league team  3-0 in the FA cup at the weekend. Sammy got taken off in the 44th minute, it says..

Chelsea didn’t overpay. We are seeing that now and we also knew at the time.

Taken off at half time because they were already 2-0 down and wanted to save their best player for the league. Braybrooke was the only Newport player who played well in that game as usual.

Before his injury he was out performing Rico Lewis and Adam Wharton whilst on the same pitch for the England youth teams. He might not ever get back on the same career trajectory as those two but with him regaining his confidence a player of his talent could be able to skip a level and make the leap from league 2 to championship.
