Worth establishing that Juventus financial situation is terrible. They might not want to sell for less than 40m euros but that doesn't mean they can hold on for that.

This, same goes for the majority of Italy. The Italian press have always been defiantly out of touch with the reality of their situations. Yet Italian teams regularly haggle obligations and low ball all of the time. He’s not a massive player for them, and they certainly can’t justify €40m, it’s nonsense, he will go for less eventually, it’s just if that “less” is within our budget.

This is why so little transfer activity happens in Italy these days and why they bring through a lot of homegrown talent even in the top clubs. They'll take players on loan from elsewhere in Europe but as soon as they get a valuation for a permanent deal they back out. Similarly some of the fees discussed for players they want to sell are ridiculously high.
