Facundo Buonanotte joins on loan - Official

Buonanotte was seen as a right winger by the club, where he’d be behind Minteh, March and Adingra and Gruda. Left wing he’d be behind Mitoma, Adingra and now Rutter. At number 10 he’d be behind Pedro, Ritter and Gruda. There is also Sarmiento who had an excellent preseason and can play any of the three positions. 

 

We also signed Cozier-Duberry (going on loan to the Championship) and Ibrahim Osman (on loan to Feyenoord), so he’s not the only young player we can’t make room for this season in our attacking midfield positions, where frankly we’re suddenly stacked. 
 

Under contract in the first team squad, including a few we’ve let out on loan, we would have Welbeck, Ferguson, Pedro, Rutter, Cozier-Duberry, Mitoma, March, Gruda, Adingra, Sarmiento, Osman, Sima, Minteh, Buonanotte - that’s fourteen players who are all vying for four positions per match. 
 

TLDR; In short, we currently have better options - that’s no disrespect to Facundo, but he’s in our long term plans hence the new contract to 2028. We’re all hoping he has an amazing season with you and comes back an even better player to assess next summer.

Looks quality for 19, slotted into the team like he’d been with us for years. Excited to see what he can do this season. Great find from Brighton!

What do you make of Sarmiento? He seems to have been around for ages and whenever I've seen his little cameos for you he's impressed, but it didn't look like he made any great impact in either loan spell last season (apart from against us, naturally) at a level where I'd have expected him to do well. The feeling from my West Brom-supporting friend was that while he maybe wasn't given as many opportunities as he could have been, he didn't exactly shine when he was given the chance.

Such a good player. Obviously on the ball he showed class, control, strength and skill. He's going to be a real asset. But, I loved the other side of his game, work rate, bite in the tackle and outstanding tackling techniques.

We've had players over the last 20 odd years who have done a job for a season when we really needed them. I'll be more than happy if this lad does that! 

 

Also, Tony Bloom ****ing loves money.... so you never know :P

Just the right amount of flair and aggression. Very solid debut. If he can get the end product to go with it he'll be worth a fortune to Brighton.
