They’ve adopted the same philosophy as Athletico Madrid. It’s not pretty but it’s effective. 
 

Like us in 15/16 they’ve found a way to win games by counter attacking and getting under the skin of their opponents.

Arsenal Man U 99 semi final was one of the best matches of the 90s though, even if Giggs' practically unchallenged run is one of the most overrated of all time.

 

I've seen clips of England v Scotland 96 recently and the quality is just diabolical.

Remember Tops hands are tied as he told two of the Ginetta barmy army a few weeks ago. Wish they were tied when the club sanctioned Oliver Skipp at 25m and appointed Cooper and Ruud. What a total shambles of a season.

They’ll get third maybe second but that’s it. Good luck to them to be fair. They’ll likely struggle next season just like Leicester, Villa and Newcastle did trying to compete r without real quality squad depth vs the traditional big six - although Spurs and ManU are dire atm.

For the past 7 season's it's been two teams going for a title. This season it's Liverpool/Arsenal, last season it was Man City/Arsenal but prior to that we've had 5 seasons of Man City/Liverpool. Aside from those two teams, per season, the top of the league has been "dire" for ages.

Forest have found a style and it's worked for them, teams haven't been good enough to beat them. Simple as that. 

Annoying its them, and hopefully it's a one off, I don't see how financial stuff won't come back and get them at some point. But they deserve it based on this season.

This is it, annoying it had to be them whilst we've also been absolutely terrible. Hard to see them not experiencing the same issues as others, as they chase the success of this season.

That maybe so, but the entertainment level was off the charts.

 

You had an incredible atmosphere at the old Wembley. Uri Geller was flying above the stadium in a helicopter claiming he made the ball move just before Gary Mac's missed penalty. Then there was Gazza's brilliant flick over Colin Hendry before rifling home and then doing the 'Dentist Chair' celebration.

 

You don't get anywhere near that level of entertainment in today's over-sanitised, no-fun, possession for possession's sake snorefest.

They just announced a £12m profit. They can afford to spend big next season and what’s more is that they now have high quality saleable assets (Murillo, Gibbs-White, Anderson) to keep bank rolling them in addition to UCL money. They won’t be champions league regulars but they will quickly become a sustainable top half premier league side.

What is quality though? to me it’s entertainment. International football has a tendency to be meh, I mean who cares about England vs Albania or whatever, literally no one. Then all this Nations League crap.

 

Technically them may be better but entertainment wise, atmosphere, excitement etc not even close. I don’t care if Man City had 6000 passes and an xg of 3.5.

If the club were in any way ran in a logical, sustainable way, with succession planning, identity and style etc, we would never be in a psr mess and still doing the same things! This is an admission of his own failures

The thing is that that was us.

 

Now agents know they have enormous amounts of money, will need to replace those assets and this makes them more likely to overreach themselves. This is how we went from being touted as the best run club in English football to the basket case we are now. One bad transfer window is all it takes.

 

I suspect the long-term future is more Crystal Palace than Aston Villa for them.
