He's just too slow to play on the wing for 90 minutes anymore. If he's playing, it needs to be in a more central role, ideally off the bench at a stage of the game when we're doing well at keeping possession at the top end of the pitch, so his lack of mobility isn't exposed and there are other players close enough to him to link up with.

Ayew looked half arsed in the warm up and played like a Sunday morning parks footballer. Definitely not a winger who will/can sprint down the wing to attack and definitely not a winger who wants/can track back. As soon as he went off Mavididi changed Lamptey’s input into the game. The marauding full back suddenly became a panicked defender.

Thought this might happen. When he’s not playing a turgid style and no longer the rescue act, he might get shown up. Very poor today

I thought he did quite well at turning and driving with the ball sometimes but his defensive workrate just wasnt there.

And then turns back lol

I know he's won us some points this year, but it hasn't changed my opinion in the slightest.

Watching him meander and amble about trying to draw a foul is miserable.

Really hope he's used from the bench under RVN as I can't watch any more of him. I don't particularly rate McAteer, but I'd have him starting over Ayew every day of the week.

He’s an off the bench player and should not be starting for us.

Fully expect he and Kasey McAthomas to be dropped for Mavididi/Bobby and Facundo in the next game

Really bad, worst he’s been. Strangely looked like he couldn’t be arsed. Very odd performance

Wouldn't be surprised if he's been told by Ruud that he's a squad player, not a starter, whereas the opposite was true under Cooper. Because I agree that his body language was totally different against Brighton thatn it was earlier in the season where he genuinely was putting his body on the line.

Just looked off it from the start, bad day at the office.

He's going to have games when he's poor, but his also going to have moments which help us get points.

There is a reason BCDR and him were available, they are on the downward curve.

Stephy hasn't done much in his sub apps to demand a place, I wouldn't be shocked to see the second half line up against West Ham, Kasey LW, Facundo RW and Bilal at 10

He looked like I feel when I play 11 a side, a yard off the pace and ready for the scrap yard. Couldn’t believe it when he came out at half time.

I've been very supportive of Ayew, even when others have been highly critical.

However, yesterday his attitude and aptitude was absolutely honking, right from the very first whistle. It's obvious Ruud has concerns over Stephy's defensive capabilities especially early in matches, so went with Ayew yesterday, who gave us nothing defensively. Was either jogging or limping around the first 45, and it looked like he couldn't be arsed. I lost count the amount of times Lamptey came in on his left foot even before the goal, and he let the same thing happen time and time again.

The introduction of Stephy was vital, as with most modern day full backs and Lamptey is one of those, great going forwards but when it comes to actually do what they are supposed to they go the pieces, very obvious but working on attack being the best form of defensive there was no need for anybody to worry about Stephy's defensive capabilities as he just pinned Lamptey back in his own half.

Personally Stephy and DCR have to come into the starting line up on the weekend, I'm just gutted with Abdul's injury, as in this system he would have absolutely flourished.

Seems strange that we'd play him over Mavi for his defensive abilities when he's proved that he can't defend at all. He's fine to bring off the bench but he shouldn't be starting
