I thought today was a marked improvement at getting the ball to them more, probably due to James off the ball running but still not helped by Ayew waddling about 30 yards behind play and not creating any space for them to drive at the defence.

Vestergaard is a **** for it, easy quick ball out to either winger in space but instead he dicks around plodding up the middle

Ayew encroaches on their space so much as well.

He drifts out wide loads. Not only does he not create space for them with his movement inside but he reduces what they have.

The sooner the absolute disaster of the experiment with him as a 9 ends the better.

he was drifting even worse once Carranza came on

Didn't you sell your soul some time ago?

The bit where he made a defender fall over through skill / Jedi mind trickery for at least the third time I’ve seen, he has a uniquely low centre of gravity combined with core strength and constantly changing direction

1 bit of quality to hot dog the bloke - apart from that I’m not sure he was any better than mav today - he is the future though and will be unreal for us

its so frustrating how little we feed our wingers, both him and Abdul should be getting the ballas much as possible, also it seemed only Abdul wanted to actually pass to him which is an issue

To Monga? Must have been watching a different game as I thought they were looking to get him involved whenever possible. Even perennial ball hog Ayew was passing to him!

Blasphemy about the best defender this league has ever seen

You can see why Ayew has played out wide so much in his career in that sense, as he always seems to drift out that way.

I'm really, really hoping Carranza is set to start next game, and that Cifuentes has just been trying to bed him in. Ayew is just not a number nine, and far from the focal point we need to succeed this season.

Edit: On topic, you've got to love the impact Monga makes when he comes off the bench. Think the crowd love it too.

This is frustrating to watch every game and it just be frustrating for Fatawu as well.  Then he just blasts it to Ayew who sends it back or can’t control it while Soumare jogs away. Jakob is so slow or scared to release the ball quickly. Many times he could throw it out like Kasper did to the wingers and bypass the chuckle brothers football.

Monga deserves someone of quality behind him to put him in space so he can run at the ball. Soumare had the chance to do that last game and passed it behind him.

Due to our players/tactics, he is getting a lot of practice at having to beat a man from a still position. Something he pulls off quickly, calmly and looks to drive forwards, unlike Mavadidi currently.

I would be amazed if the pro contract he's signed is particularly long tbh. I wouldn't be hypothetically spending small fortunes just yet.

Think the maximum is 3 years and then 5 years when 18+ but I might be wrong.

I can’t understand why he’s not starting.

Realistically we’ll only have him for this season so play him every bloody game.

we are doing his career and future clubs a favour by not burning him out:brendan:
