Carsley really said: "3 more games and hopefully I'm going back to the U-21s"?

Hahaha. This is getting better and better. It's pure comedy central material. Everybody in FA should resign in the morning.

Maybe it was said in jest?

And all that comes down to is their pride and passion of playing for their country.

Which I presume the England players had in the summer?

The game showed why all the attacking talent we have aren't all shoehorned into the team as some want to happen and criticised Southgate for not doing...

Lesson learnt for everyone...

At least play with a proper striker..

There is definitely a reason why Southgate always wanted the 2 holding players. Its why I wasn't sold on the calls for Bellingham to play deeper at the euros.

Fact is Southgate and now Carsley don't know how to get the best out of attacking talent whilst holding the correct balance. Can a new manager do that? I feel we can never have that until we find a top quality centre Midfielder to go alongside or replace Rice

Pickford needs to be put out to pasture. Not even playing well for England anymore (which was the only time he did play well)

His positioning for the goals were awful I thought

He has moments of brilliance but overall he is a poor goalkeeper.

Should be Nick Pope at the moment.

The fixation on win, lose or draw is all down to the manager still amazes me, as if they control players from the sidelines.

They will set out a base plan yes but players have to adapt to what is happening in front of them, they shouldn’t need a complete run down of this by the manager during a water break.

As for the set up last night it was brave and there was some thinking behind it, how many on here have been calling for Kane to be dropped (myself included) then how many up until recently would actually say use Watkins or Solanke instead?

The idea was pretty sound given the players we are talking about, they had the potential to be like the red arrows buzzing around switching positions and anyone of them popping up in the 9 position, these are some of the best players in the world, allegedly.

England didn’t have 1 shot on target because the manager said I only want 1 shot on target, if those 5/6 players can’t fashion an opening between them last night not sure how sticking a 9 in would have made much difference if they couldn’t get it to the / that space anyway?

Im glad he tried it because it was different, had he put Watkins in everyone would have just said mini-Southgate or should he have put both Watkins & Solanke on together to show he was different?

Had it clicked last night he would be hailed a genius or more likely finally someone doing what we have all been saying for ages.

Haven’t there been previous teams that have been successful without a recognised 9, haven’t Spain, Barcelona, Man C just as 3 examples done it, & you can’t scoff saying well they had x player because how many ballon d’or nominee's were in that 5/6?

If it’s all down to the manager, why are they paying these guys 200-300 grand per week??

I will blame him for picking Pickford thou, he has not been the best English keeper for years now and shouldn’t be # 1.

It's funny because Pope is kind of the opposite, a very good keeper overall with the odd moment of madness.

Would the FA dare appoint a Scot in charge of England. I know back in the 90's the Fa tried to get Fergie, who quoted "politely declined the offer" It would just be like the FA to appoint someone like a David Moyes.

Maybe it was due to the poor performance, but watching Carsley in his England training wear going from squating on the sideline and running back and forth to his tablet looked nothing like a manager who had a clue at all.

All match his expression(which had this look of "hmmmm") never at all changed.

Of course, none of these things mean he isn't preparing the lads well, but I just can't imagine that he's the guy for this job.

Oh, and I did want to say something positive. I thought Greece played very well.

If England are ever going to win anything, the FA need to go all out for a top manager. Carsley is another Southgate waiting to happen. Show some ambition.

In talks with Tuchel according to reports in Germany.

Just looking forward to the reaction and outrage from some if this does happen!

Carsley is a manager with a lot to learn, he is now taking  on players who trained and are coached by the best of the best though… these are world class superstars. That alone is hard to just jump into, guess what players don’t naturally organise them selfs, spend time practicing certain tactics you want to employ. You need to enforce them and they they to be onboard. Again I’ll mention Southgate, no doubt had faults and didn’t get aggressive when needed, but he understood the principles

The game later isn't on TV anywhere?..

Viaplay, on YouTube, is showing a host of today's other games - but not England's.
