I'm not sure the new PA announcer is as bad as some are making out, and personally speaking, didn't like Brad's style at all as he typified the club's soft mentality when it comes to home match days.

Vardy was on one that day wasn't he? Daughter swearing, the Rudkin incident and calling that interviewer a c*** on the bus only for the club to actually include it in the official highlights!

The issue for me is that he was working at the club for 25 years and was unceremoniously dumped for something he didn't have total control over.

 

All in line with KPFC's cult over family approach.

Yes can appreciate that side to it, and although we don’t know all the ins and outs, it’s not a good look.

Met him after a game last season (which one it was escapes me) in the Fox & Soar / Blues Bar / whatever it's called. Really sound guy, plenty of cool anecdotes and fully clued-up on the actual football being played (rather than just being a clueless suit - he's an actual fan).

 

But probably speaking a bit more freely about the club and behind the scenes than I would have expected someone in such a prominent position to be in a public place? Nothing headline-worthy that I'm going to repeat here, but methinks there's probably a bit more to it than just him asking a pissed-up Vardy a loose question at the parade as a one-off. :dunno:

He only said "you'll have to ask John Rudkin that"

 

What a way to handle it by rewarding Vardy with a new contract and sacking the poor fella who asked him if he wants to stay.

Anyone with some common sense knows that a trophy/promotion parade is neither the time nor the place to ask Vardy or any player about contract negotiations. 
 

Still, it was harsh for him to be sacked. I do hope he’s doing well and lands on his feet.

Going to sound harsh here, but I don't really care who the stadium announcer is. 


Having said that, if someone has lost their role/job because of Vardy's comment about Rudkin – whether due to an "unwritten rule" about questions or not – then I think it shows just how f*king petty and pathetic Rudkin and the club's leadership really is. They've already proven to be not very good at their jobs, so to be shown to be vindictive too (if indeed the announcer has been let go due to the parade) just adds to their charge list.

Isn't half the issue here that if there's just an innocent explanation it'd be better to release something thanking him for his service than create this vacuum? 

 

It's not like this is some random HR administrator - it's someone whose voice we've become accustomed to for over two decades. We're going to notice if he suddenly disappears and when there's no reason, goodbye or message as to why people will speculate.

I think the new guy sounds childish, boring and passionless.

 

Saying that, I didn’t expect to miss Brad when he left.

 

The saying “it can’t get worse than this” is completely false for this club. In fact, at every point when you think it can’t get worse, it gets worse.

An iconic voice, been there as long as I can remember or have paid attention. Much like the Birch. Like goal music, clappers, ft music, pre match music etc etc, unfortunately not something I have the available brain capacity to notice or care about.
