Pearson .. great escape and his team won the league

Ranieri

Rodgers.. If he'd have held on to CL spot then I'd have had him 2nd over Claudio, mightve even got top because then the investment would've been more substantial and the final 2 seasons not as crap and may have still been here

Enzo.. did his job effectively

Shakespeare  kept us up and reached the CL QF

Puel

Sven .. great fun but was carnage

Cooper

Paolo Sousa

Smith unfair to judge. Team was gone before he came in

Probably the same for me although it pains me to put Rodgers third after the mess he left us in

When Rodgers got the job, I was happy. A friend of mine - a Scottish Celtic supporter I met when living in Rome - warned he would do great and amazing at first, but his self-interest would end up hurting us.

We gave us two trophies and European appearances. He also got us relegated.

It is definitely a love-hate relationship.

Winning the league under Ranieri.......the actual ****ing league ......and some people still have Big Nige as number 1!!

That's enough foxestalk for one evening.

I know you say you've gone for the evening but read this in the morning. Nigel took us from League 1 to the promised land, kept us there and arguably it was mainly his players that won us the Premier League. I agree with you that Claudio actually won us the league but he nearly got us relegated the following season. Howabout we compromise and give them both joint first place?

I can’t see how Enzo winning the Championship with the best players in the league can be better than Rodgers 5th place finishes and FA Cup.

I just think Rodgers should never have got us relegated or near that with the squad we had. Taints his legacy otherwise I'd agree!

Ranieri left us 1 point above relegation but people will rank him based on his achievements not his failures.

This debate has been done to death on here but I think either answer is fine. No manager has left us in better shape than Pearson

And no manager accomplished as much as Ranieri

I think Rodgers will slip further and further down this list the more time we spend in the championship over the next decade or so, there's not many managers around who have done as much damage to a club as he has.

I’m not so sure.

I think time will remember him more fondly, given the first 2.5 seasons.

Everyone will have a different take on this though.

My rank is:

1. Ranieri

2. Pearson

3. Rodgers

4. Maresca

5. Puel

6. Shakespeare

7. Eriksson

8. Smith

9. Souza

10. Cooper

They’re all relative for the time.

If you were to rank them by actually season in charge and what they achieved, you’d look at it so much differently.

1. Ranieri 15/16

2. Rodgers 20/21

3. Rodgers 19/20

4. Pearson 13/14

5. Maresca 23/24

6. Pearson 14/15

7. Rodgers 18/19

8. Puel 17/18

9. Pearson 11/12

10. Shakespeare 16/17

11. Puel 18/19

12. Smith 22/23

13. Eriksson 10/11

14. Eriksson 11/12

15. Shakespeare 17/18

16. Rodgers 21/22

17. Cooper 24/25

18. Ranieri 16/17

19. Rodgers 22/23

20. Sousa 10/10

Everyone would alter this rank, however it does give an insight on just how someone like Rodgers is so diverse. If he’d gone in 21/22 like he should have, he’d be remembered far more fondly.

Eriksson, Puel and Shakespeare didn’t do a great deal but kept the club ticking over and put in foundations.

Sousa was horrendous and arguably set us back by allowing Pearson to walk away to Hull.

Ranieri gave us our greatest ever season in my opinion, then the following season was an utter train smash. I’d say even worse than the dross we’ve seen from Cooper given the squad he had. Albeit not as bad as the Rodgers melt down.

Ranieri and Rodgers are the only two that are firmly cemented in our history tbh

Rodgers has the FA cup but personally I think him getting relegated despite inheriting one of the best squads in the league at the time will win out as his main legacy here.

The longer we go without being able to establish ourselves as a PL team, the more people will realise what was squandered by Rodgers.

Everyone has their own favourites but looking back as far as 1960 this is my list.

1. Pearson   I'd put Pearson first because he was the catalyst for everything good that came after the takeover. Even though I don't think he  himself would have won the league with the same squad.

Also because of the great escape  I thought we were so unlucky to be in that position that season. We hit the Woodwork 11 times that season I think.

2  Ranieri    He was a bit of loveable Charlatan. He had the good sense to realise what he had inherited and just needed to nourish it by his cajoling methods of the Players and talking down our success.

3  Enzo       Because he's the greatest Coach I've seen in my 50 years in the game. Plus he delivered what he was asked to do. Win Promotion.

4  O Neill    He brought in some great talent during his stay which won a few trophies and his passion for the game. He gave Fans belief.

5. Rogers  First 2 years great, With a Cup win most thought we'd never see after losing the 69 Final when we were favourites and lost. But a Narcissistic Mercenary at heart.

6. Gillies     In the 60s Gillies signed some great players and managed to take us to two FA Cup Finals. Something I'd never witnessed before.

7. Puel       Who I thought got a raw deal from the Club but did bring in some real talent.

8. Armfield A charming old school Manager who knew his Football.

9. Little    Done a decent job while here, leaving aside he jumped ship to join Villa.

10. Kelly     Who I thought done a decent job at a very difficult time. Saving us from relegation to league one. And had us mid table with no money to spend before being sacked.

The most disappointing were Taylor who wasted a fortune and Bassett who I thought would do better after his heroics at Wimbledon.

I know title changed to KP but people are also forgetting Matt Gillies  probably also one of our best ever managers at the time.  Loved Bloomfield and that 70s team, Weller, Worthington, Whitworth, Sammels, Glover, Birchenall, Garland, Earle, Shilton, Wallington, even Stringfellow.  Wow, to have that talent now what a team it would be.  Let them play on the billiard tables of pitches today, not the mud baths they had to play in.

If it wasn't for Pearson we may never have been in a position to win the Prem and then for Rodgers to go on a win the FA Cup.

Shakey and Walsh should be up there with him, it was the perfect storm that set us up for years to come.
