Sorry, I think you are wrong in some respects.

So you appoint Ruud late Wednesday with little time to prepare or spend time with the players for a game we are in all probability going to lose, Brentford who have the best home record in the league. We get beaten its a poor start for the new man, and we lose a bit of the new manager bounce.

The most important thing for a manager is to get a good start, doing that at the best home team in the league isn't easy.

Or you can appoint him over the weekend, and he can watch the game from the stands. Gives him four days to prepare for a big home game in front of an energised KP!

If we get something at Brentford it will be credited to the Ruud effect, if we don't it goes against the caretaker coaches.

I think the only complaint we can have is not sacking Cooper in the international break, but then again would you want your new manager having Chelsea at home and Brentford away in his first few games, the new manager bounced destroyed in 2 games?

There’s two things here. 1. If we were proactive, could he not have been in place before Wednesday ? Giving him time that we hope to give him pre- West Ham (which is in the weekday and he has an equal amount of time to if he was hired and in place two days ago for Brentford ?) 2, people have mentioned the respect thing about talking to a manager while another is already in place - didn’t we do that with Brendan - everything agreed while Puel was still in play - so what had changed.

The point I was making is we haven’t been pro active this time as we were when Puel was sacked. We weren’t pro-active when Brendan was sacked and it cost us. We weren’t actually aware or prepared when Enzo left - though, that one was a bit more understandable. And that has put us at a disadvantage for one PL game - I don’t think you can spin it any other way. I don’t know Ben Dawson but he could possibly have a caretaker spin and get something who knows, I just think there is genuine flaws in the approach given all the noise of “concerns” not “knee jerk” etc.

Can we actually just take a moment to acknowledge how ****ing insane it is that one of the most successful and decorated managers in history rocked up at ****ing Everton.

And not in his retirement but before he won another two Champions Leagues.

And they were still shit.

Hold on. Hold on. Ancelotti in 3 games had the media suggesting that they will win the league lol.

not really shit though

In his only full season they finished 10th on 59 points

his win record was 44%

suspect that was his worst season in management !

New levels will be reached if the club - for whatever reason - can’t get RVN over the line. The longer it rumbles on the more concerning it is…

The fact that even Percy and the beeb have reported it tells me it’s pretty much done

Why the panic? It’s all been very well staged PR. Club got Percy to confirm it as they knew there would be a delay with coaching staff and whatever else they’ve got cooking!

I would imagine that the view of our esteemed board would be that RVN has been brought in at this particular time in order to give him a few weeks to evaluate what he has and more importantly who he wants to bring in in Jan . I doubt that they will be expecting things to be massively different until then and maybe we will still get something similar to what we have been getting as RVN will still only have the same toolbox to work with ...but I would think that come the end of Jan they will expect serious improvements . A new manager effect bringing an improvement in results would a lovely bonus though .

Don't be ridiculous, if the club don't confirm it within five minutes of Percy posting we all know it's because Ruud met Rudkin and decided the worst run club in German history were a better bet.

Don't like to say it - but this is beginning to remind me of another no show Dutchman. Back in 1981 I was 14 and super excited that Leicester would sign the Dutch wizard Johan Cruyff.

Indeed the following article was in the Sun newspaper on Wednesday 25 February 1981:-

"Johan Cruyff is today set for a sensational move to First Division strugglers Leicester City. The Dutch Master has lined up a deal worth £4,000-a-game for 11 matches and, if everything works out, he will make his debut against reigning European champions Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Last night jubilant Leicester boss Jock Wallace insisted: Johan and I have already agreed terms. He has one or two problems to sort out, but I am very hopeful he will join us on Thursday. I would like to think that part of Johan’s interest is down to our personal friendship. I have known him since 1973 when he scored a fabulous goal for Ajax against Rangers when I was at Ibrox in the first European Super Cup. The negotiations have been going on by telephone over the past three to four weeks and now I think I have my man. He would teach my kids so much and be a great advert for Leicester City.”

What could possibly go wrong?

I remember the kids at my school were all buzzing. In recent weeks we had beaten Liverpool, Man U and Spurs and now were to get Cruyff.

I started to dream about Johan doing a Cruff turn before crossing for Lineker to smash the ball home!

Sadly as Jock Wallace prepared his Leicester players for the game against Forest, Cruyff was wheeling through arrivals at Valencia’s Manises airport.

Yes Johan had done the dirty and joined a Spanish club (no doubt the weather was better than found in the East Midlands)/
