I didn't want Cooper as our manager, but I never overlooked the fact that our squad is crap. You can only go so far with a poor squad.

You can go even lower with a poor manager and that's exactly what Cooper was and is.

I don't disagree, but I don't want to see people getting on Ruud's back for having to put out footballers that are not premier league quality in a premier league game.

Partly agree. But I remember the players in the relegation season, particularly against Chelsea when we were much the better side but for Ward to gift them three goals. Soul destroying

It was visible as to how demoralising that wasnfor the outfield players. Shrugs of shoulders to the bench as if to say, what can we do with that in goal?

Ruud making 5 subs is still a positive considering how I can’t think of anything else to take from today.

I hope the players have a proper rocket up them after today, potentially hyperbole but would describe today as an unprofessional performance.

We wouldn't have shipped 4 under Cooper. Is Ruud taking us down

we'd have shipped even more lets be honest. Ruud is a Mazda mx5 compared to coopers Ford Pinto.

The number of shots we allow the opposition is frightening. We certainly need our midfield and wingers to offer more protection to our back 4. This is the real issue we have is not being aggressive enough in pressing and closing down shots early on.

Don't think some people get it; Ward might not have been directly  responsible for all 3 goals, the glaring issue is that the team have about as much faith in him as the supporters do. The team fell to pieces, literally the minute he came on. Mads gives them a level of confidence as he's quality, the team clearly have no faith in Ward, what more evidence do you need?

If you're a defender, and you think your goalie is rubbish, then you need to player better; not worse... which is what our defence did.

Not necessarily, we have seen him have poor games this season

He wouldn't make that much difference really to the defensive and midfield issues we are having

I hear what you say but he is very tenacious and good at both winning the ball and retaining it in tight soaces. He can also pick a pass and drive forward with it. I think you could slot him into a deeper midfield role no problem. I didn’t mean it literally but thinking about it the only thing that put me off doing that is with his talent it seems a waste not playing him further forward.

Rightly or wrongly I take it all the people surprised about people suggesting Ruud out so early are being sarcastic?

Bearing in mind they're probably the same people who wanted Cooper out before a competitive game was played.

Isn’t it about time Ruud got a couple of decent and experienced backroom staff in?
It seems he doesn’t want a big team of people along side him but how about getting rid of the two Cooper hangers on and bringing in a decent defensive coach and a quality assistant at least. He can’t do it all on his own. Surely his Man Utd connections could help with this.

Difference with Cooper is that he had a better squad to work with albeit not great. Ricardo was available and barely used, Fatawu in and out, had Winks available. He then persisted with Faes, JJ (I know he is still playing but nobody else as back up now), Reid who are horribly out of form or not up to it. Ndidi in the wrong position another problem.

I will not be impressed if he persists with Ward or continues to include Choudhury, however.

Danny Ward really was one of the least blameworthy people for that result. He could do nothing for two goals, made a great stop and was very unlucky for the other. He's crap, and maybe players lost heart when he came on, but that's their fault, not his.

Making this debacle all about him is not only embarrassingly overly simplistic, it also means we'll fail to address all of the other issues which we can actually affect. Danny Ward being rubbish, which we all knew already, is hardly the conversation to be had after our worst performance of the season, in which he was one of the less critical factors.

Stupid that people were genuinely blaming him for the first 2. But the third? Unacceptable. Yes, Murphy is odds on to score there but Ward has this weird thing where he almost falls back and splits his legs so there's a huge gap straight at him and it's not like he's doing that to cover extra space.

But you're right, he shouldn't be the focus today when everyone who played was awful and majority of them didn't work hard enough. Of course, if he's in ahead of JS next week (assuming Mads is injured) then that'll be utter madness.

How could Ruud and the coaching staff have expected, or be responsible for all the team switching off completely for their second goal?
We started the second half brightly on the attack. We give a stupid free kick away on the edge of our box, everyone’s asleep and they get a gift goal, which no goalie could have stopped.

If this result was under Cooper he would have got slated.  I think it's a Ruud awakening, he now knows the challenge.

Wake up you turd, we need something and quick.

You're right, but that also because he would have deserved it. He had a hand in building this squad and refused to select some of best players when he had the chance. Ruud basically had no choice but to start that team today and he's had 3 games. 4 points from those 3 is a decent return and obviously that kind of return keeps you in the league.

Someone some how get a message to Ruud, and any new staff, telling them that they don’t actually have to play Ward.

Someone tell them that Stolarczyk is actually better than Ward

Do it. Do it now

I don't understand some of the comments on FT re Ruud today; limited squad, which is already of low quality (not of his doing obviously), we were outplayed the first half, but this is Newcastle away with something to prove in terms of the club progress/manager/squad criticism they've had, in front of their fans. I actually thought the first 15/20 mins or so we looked pretty dangerous and competed well, clearly an 'away' setup, then with Hamza and Skipp, we lost the midfield once they got figured out. Concede one - ok, see what happens second half at that point. I didn't feel too negative about it then, we knew today would be tough

Then Mads needs to come off and it changes everything. Ward shouldn't be anywhere near the team and if anything there must be some leaves that need sweeping or Christmas decs that need putting up at Seagrave (actually, don't want to drop any baubles, they'll shatter to fk). Our defence suddenly turned to soggy tissue paper (I thought VK looked good first half, aggressive), and we all know what happened from there. RVN tried to change things - but the game was gone.

I'm sure RVN will have learnt from what he saw today - his post match was balanced but he made a few references to our problems, and I'm hoping next game, by then he's maybe brought in a few more of his own coaches, and made some decisions to take us from the transitory stage of Steve Cooper LCFC to (ugh just that phrase) to RVN LCFC 0.1.
