RVN is really clueless as it turns out in terms of how to turn an average team into a team that can battle against relegation.

He has self admitted to the problem. He needs everyone to work to their best in each position before we stand a chance because our squad is not as good as others.

Then clearly he needs to change his tactics. Yes, if we try to play generic formation and trying to make each player play better than the opposition 1-1, we have no chance. We need to do a Maresca or Cooper where we play a different tactic (Maresca possession ball or Cooper’s mixed tactics and narrowing the pitch by playing with one winger only) before we stand any chance of winning any game.

At present, he is just playing the same generic tactics that yes with a good squad the team can play like the old Fergie Man Utd way but we are not capable of playing that.

He ain't going until the summer. No ones coming in as they won't want to add this shit to the bottom of a CV.

No one's turning this ship around. It's heading for thr rocks at full speed and the crew has given up or just totally useless.

Then in the summer a few will look over this shipwreck and most will just pass it by.

Think Leicester Think Titanic.

We have a rotten squad with far too many bad apples. There’s a cultural problem that runs so deep it will only be solved by a major clear-out. I get the impression (and it’s just a personal impression) that RVN might be good at handling that side of things. The problem is, I’m not sure that he’s actually a good enough manager to deliver on the pitch.

The word "culture" derives from a French term, which in turn derives from the Latin "colere," which means to tend to the earth and grow, or cultivation and nurture.

So it's the managers responsibility go grow, and nurture a positive culture.

If RVN has come in and banished some of these so call bad apples and used different players, a bit like Pearson he quicky removed Mills from the first team on his return, I see you point.

I don't see a leader, I see someone who talks the talk but can't walk the walk.

That seems to be a bit of a pattern with our squad though, doesn't it? Rodgers, Cooper and now RVN. The appointment of Maresca, which probably owed more to luck than judgment, was merely a temporary reprieve from a depressing sequence of managers failing to get our players to do even the basics...

I think at this point, you have to ask if it's the managers at all when the only manager to get a tune out of this squad was in the division below, and even then they still took a couple of months just dossing around. We've got the most unprofessional squad going, who just down tools every time a manager tries to actually manage them, and go crying to Aiyawatt about how they're expected to work for their pay cheque.

RvN is clearly not good enough as a tactician but at this point, you might as well keep him and clear the decks fully in the summer, strip the squad to it's bare bones and fully reset the attitude in the club.

I take Dean Smith again, over anything RVN is attempting to do.

Remember when Smith, faced with more or less no alternatives, dropped his two best players (Barnes and Madders) for Newcastle away.... brought them in with 20 to go and almost won the game.

Sometimes football is about being imaginative. Smith, at least, tried to shake it up to get a result.

As the old saying goes, a bad workman blames his tools. Exactly what the Dutchman does

I was literally banned for criticising this appointment and now we’re somewhat into it I feel like I’ll be able to say my thoughts on it

it’s been a shit show, and sure you can argue ruud wasn’t back and this team was shit which to a degree I agree with

but if we’re going down the route of “we’re too shit we can’t stay up” then why oh why does he play the same names, why is wout faes still starting games despite the management and the team accepting our fate.

rather than walk away this time he’s hanging onto compensation, ****ing pay it he’s leaving regardless one last turn of the wheel might change anything but this man will not be our manager next season regardless

To be fair, Smith gave it a go. I actually thought he did okay in the short time he was here. I wish he got more time, he might have got a tune out of them.

Smith’s points-per-game ratio would have comfortably kept us up if sustained over a whole season. And he achieved that with a demoralised squad he inherited from somebody else and without a preseason. He didn’t do a bad job at all.

We basically went ultra negative with a back 5 and shithoused some kind of result. 23% possession, xG of 2.1-0.1 to Newcastle, who somehow managed to hit the post twice from a total distance of about 3 feet. Iversen hacking the ball out of play at every opportunity. Bizarre to think we nearly won it too with Castagne at the end.

Can anyone think of genuine reasons for not sacking him?  All I can come up with is the cost, but considering there’s no way he’ll be our manager in the championship, we’re going to have to sack him at some point, so we may as well do it now.  Or are we thinking we’ll get the sacking cost in the next accounting year, after 30th June?  I can’t think of any other reason.  Anyone got any ideas why the delay?

I personally think the fans are being treated like mugs....the powers that be think we are just going to happily go along with their agenda and believe all the bullshit we read. They must think we're all fing stupid and gormless....keep turning up, waving our flags and cheering the team on like good little supporters....don't dare question the regime....bit of a wind up if I'm honest and one I no longer prescribe to. I was planning to go a few times this season but by god I'm glad I didn't waste my money

David Lammy incoming.  That Chargos deal is the the same as most of our extended contract car crashes.

If they are not busy lining someone up so they can sack Ruud then I am at a loss as to what they are doing.  Seriously, this is the clearest case for sacking ever seen.

In ordinary circumstances you would definitely expect to be sacked with Ruud’a record so far. I can think of two reasons why it hasn’t happened:

1) The club has recognised that the problems at the club are not down to RVN but more of a deep-seated cultural issue within the squad (much like Amorin at Man Utd). Maybe they’re impressed  with what he’s trying to do behind the scenes and see him as the man to oversee the clear-out and rebuild in the summer. If this is the case, they’ll be desperately hoping that we get some decent results soon because if things carry on as they are it will be very difficult to justify keeping RVN on no matter what he’s doing behind the scenes.

2) They have decided he’s probably not the man to take us forward but don’t see any point in sacking him now because of the lack of available replacements. Or maybe they have an agreement in place that enables them to sack him for less compensation once relegation is mathematically certain. Either way, they’re in no rush and probably won’t do anything until the end of the season.

I’m leaning towards the first one: I get the feeling the club privately acknowledges that RVN has been dealt a terrible hand and wants to give him more time to shape his own squad. Their problem is that we still have 11 games for the mood among the fanbase to become even more toxic than it is now and the pressure on them to act will intensify.

I am half hoping King Power are planning their exit strategy and not making plans on the football side now too much. The other half of me is hoping they are taking their time to find the right man on a long term plan. Other than that must be pure incompetence.
