Feels like a lot hinges on recruitment in the next month.

If we don't sell anyone (ie Hermansen) we have to be looking at buying/loaning a RB and a LB, bolstering CM options, and definitely 1-2 wingers because we can't be relying on Reid and Ayew until May.

It's a shame Rudkin is still around to have his hand in transfer business. I hope RVN is backed positively and not just having to rely on has-beens or free transfers. He has to be backed to get players in that he wants to build a team around. We cannot be signing any more players in the shape of Ayew/Reid just because they're free.

Have we got any money to buy players ???

Having money and being able to spend money.

i think we have money, but whether we can spend it or not I’m not sure.

We need a RB, LB, CB, CM, a versatile wide player who can cover both sides and a striker ……….

absolutely no way we address all those issues in one winter transfer window and also shows what a shitshow of a summer window we had, spending £70m and failing to address so many issues. We will also need to shift on 3 or 4 as well, can’t see it happening, however would not be shocked in the slightest if we sell Mads to generate PSR wriggle room especially now Jakub is back.

Sadly if we would get more for Mads than in the summer, I would sell now.  Stolarcyzk looks a decent shot stopper, not as good on the ball, but we need the money.  Also don't know if we could get £15/20m for Wout, then Goodbyeeee.

Then whatever we have left.  That could be 4 good purchases/loans.  And send Edouard back quickly.

Signing players in January is always high risk. Not only due to availability and inflated prices but also needing players to hit the ground running with no pre-season to work on it.

We need to roll the dice because we have too many players starting games who simply shouldn’t be. Justin, VK, the CBs, Skipp, Daka etc. are either starting by default or one injury away from starting. We saw that with Ward.

The reality is, we’ve left ourselves a huge mountain to climb. The Wolves result was an utter disaster and leaves us needing at least 6 wins in the second half of the season. Saying that, what gives me hope is the end of season run. There are 5/6 games all with potential to win. Ipswich and Saints are both home games as well. To do this, we need 3/4 signings in January (and early, they’ve had long enough and we can’t do the Rudkin deadline day stupidity again) and get 1/2 wins before the end of Jan. if we don’t, it’s over.

Spot on,  Jakub showed last night he is more than capable of stepping up and it not hurting us, so if there is an opportunity to cash in for ridiculous money then we should take it in January especially as in the summer following relegation it will knock a hefty wedge off the potential transfer fee as we saw with Madders and Barnes.

The EFL are waiting for us with open arms to dish out a transfer ban and probably a points deduction. With a bang average, overpaid, ageing squad with hardly any sellable assets, this January literally feels like sh*t or bust for the immediate future of this football club.

We wont have the luxury of bringing in the quality and keeping the quality like we did last time to bounce straight back and I fear we could be gone for a while if we don’t get it right.

Yes, very much Blackburn, Stoke and Sheffield Wed. vibes if we go down this season I fear!

This is definitely the most important January. Considering what could await us if we get relegated.

Anyway, it’s important for every team, the league is the pits and if one of us that make up the arse hole of the league can mangle a few good signings combined with some form will be the ones to stay up. Hopefully Ruud’s influence can help us bring some good hungry players in.

It's a key window no doubt and a lot hinges on the Club having prepared / have clear objectives and that they can execute (potentially) multiple deals at the same time.

You worry that the Club either act knee-jerk and bring in random players that don't improve the first XI,  thinking that numbers will freshen things up or else they dither and fail to bring in players until late in the window or at all (as they fear the impact of PSR / EFL penalties if relegated) and we have left it too late and get cut adrift.

Again everything hinges on Rudders being successful.

As ever we're on the back foot because of our own poor planning and poor negotiating. So we'll panic in January and extend the mess.

Yep. Probably sign 1 decent player and 2 duds, whilst loaning in someone. We'll then be stuck with the 2 duds for years or have to accept a massive loss on them.

Same old Leicester City.

Yes but I don't trust the club to get the right players in and what is normally a difficult market to operate in .

They had opportunity in the summer to buy young hungry players that we possibly could sell on for profit (in both the event of staying up or relegation) but they bought some absolute dross who if we go down we can't sell on and will be lumbered with.

There is some major problems at the club which we know but recruitment is absolutely one of them.

Probably need to clear out the dead wood but zero chance of that so probably sell Hermansen providing his injury doesnt fook that up too.

Having said that selling Hermansen is just as bad as signing no one in January:brendan:

Nah. The squad is so short of the requisite quality that even if we have a decent window it won't be enough.

Whether we have a decent window bearing in mind our recruitment record over the last few windows is probably a stretch anyway.
