You love Kier, just admit it Tommy

Ha not a chance but I recognise a progressive policy and think despite a stumbling start Wes Streeting is starting to make some promising strides - he’s woofed out the NHSE boss (resigned …bullshit) and got a hard hitter in James Mackey who takes no prisoners.

Whatever side of the fence you sit, if you’re an adult you need to recognise positive steps - and debate the negative ones - particularly some of the budget backwards steps and manifesto u turns.

Damn, Trump telling Zelenskyy that the US is now a neutral country is the war and that Ukraine is losing. Awful.

This press conference is an absolute disaster

Putin must be pissing himself.

Zelensky showing his inexperience - especially up against a character like trump

he should have held his tongue and said that things needed to be discussed in private

As per above, it's very difficult when under stress not to take the bait when two bigger bullies are trolling you, particularly when the personal stakes are so high.

I just hope that him frustratingly showing Trump for what he is in public isn't too costly.

Very

but the future of his country is at stake - that’s the reality. Whether we like it or not - whether it’s right or wrong - he needed to have the argument in private.  There was a point where he needed to step back and he kept digging - I appreciate he was 100% entitled to state the truth but he just empowered the two nobheads to carry on hitting him.

Watching the footage now, safe to say that hasn't gone too well. Zelensky could have handled things better but that was an ambush really from Vance and Trump.

But it lays bare even more what the reality is that the US have no real desire to help Ukraine. I wonder if Zelensky signs this minerals agreement after all that.

Classic example of yesterday.  Starmer accused of brown nosing but probably walks away with approval on Chagos and Trade deal.  Zelenskyy goes in speaking truth and ends up in a row and will get absolutely screwed.

Painful reality of how this works in full view.  Bend the knee.

Bend the knee to what? Having your country sold down the road? The irony of Trump accusing Zelensky of “gambling on WW3”

I’m sorry but you’re basically telling Ukraine to accept being taken over by Putin. The whole thing USA wants is to withdraw troops and not have to participate in this war, that’s what Ukraine “gets” out of this deal. Oh plus giving USA a load of its natural resources too. USA isnt offering to defend Ukraine from future Russian attacks if Zelensky “bends at the knee” here, Trump has been extremely clear he wants nothing to do with that and only wants compensation himself

It's fvcking difficult because IMO in the world we live in now both of these points of view have merit.

The sooner the world moves away from such realpolitik bullshit, the better.

Zelenskyy is ****ed either way.  JD described Ukrainians showing US officials Irpin and Bucha "propoganda" and Trump had rant about Hunter Biden.  Said before I genuinely think the administration wants Ukraine to lose but don't want to withdraw so obviously as it'll lose the votes as the US are generally supportive of Ukraine.

This deal just gives the US an opportunity to exploit them instead of Russia.

The whole thing actually exposes the Trump administration: Russian aggression, Climate change - They don’t want to believe that bad, out of control things are happening. Trump says he believes Putin wants a deal and an end to the war; he believes it because the alternative scares him. He says that American miners in Ukraine will be protection enough, that Putin wouldn’t attack while that was happening; he believes it, because the alternative scares him.

Not that it matters a great lot, given a sizeable proportion of the American public will go with Trump for precisely the same reason. They have a big, beautiful ocean in the way, after all. But it’s all there, laid out. Trump’s America is primed to run away.

Also, it should now be immediately apparent how much of a reptile in a skin suit Vance is - but that's probably an insult to the reptilian community.

Trump has bombast, but his VP is a cold, calculating sociopath.

All of them are poisoned reptiles, just one is more orange than others. Vance was out of order and he's trying to play the big bully in the play ground.

The whole thing is ridiculous, he's seeing the war in Ukraine as not our issue and miles away.

How people seriously voted for these buffoons is beyond me

That's also an insult to two very good Disney characters tbh. :D

Agreed.

Guess my point is that of the two, Vance may actually be the more competent neofascist enabler, apart from Trump's superiority in spinning obvious lies to a room.

Zelensky between a rock and a hard place. The minerals deal would never be in Ukraine's best interest without a security guarantee, and if he wasn't going to bend the knee, they'd ambush him like that.

Genuinely am coming round to the view that Trump is a Russian asset.

Trump and Vance are a vile pair of idiots . It’s all just for show with them they don’t care about anyone or anything other than the shows they put on even if they are wrong about things which they usually are. Stupid maga people love it as well .
