When were we ever linked with Howe?

I think it was around the time Rodgers was being linked with Arsenal/Tottenham. Only vague links but I remember people on here scoffing at the mention of him

There were a few of us mentioning him when Puel got sacked but Leicester fans were scoffing at him because he was unproven at taking Bournemouth to the next level (despite the pitiful budget)

Im not sure why we would want Manning hes got a poor side into the playoffs in a poor division, and got royal spanked at home by Sheff Utd. I think Bernard is more qualified!

They were extremely unlucky to be down to 10 men and a penalty against them due to a shockingly poor refereeing decision.

Rohl also suggested he has an unofficial agreement to leave Wednesday this summer. The 36-year-old has had a fine couple of seasons at Hillsborough, first guiding the Owls away from relegation and then up to mid-table this season.

He said: “Personally, I had a fantastic time at Sheffield Wednesday. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’d like to work at the highest possible level with the best players in the near future.

“My situation in Sheffield is unofficially relatively clear. There’s a clear agreement with the owner about how I envision my future. Unfortunately, I can’t go into detail about that right now.”

Rules a move out to us then 🙄

He may see what happened with Enzo and see it as a stepping stone.

Manning thought it was a disgrace....

However, the pundits didn't agree...

Robert Huth being interviewed on Talksport thinks Gary O'Neil as next manager is a good shout.

They played together at Middlesborough

Well yeah that's presumably why

Many Bristol City fans wanted him out only a couple of months ago. Boring modern day football, sounds familiar, and he's only partially swung it around during this recent end of season form (although many thought it fortunate). He had sympathy mid-way through the season due to a family bereavement.

Sounded over emotional last night. I don't think he's for us. We must be more ambitious.

you missed the poor division part. I reckon my mam could get a reasonable team from a big city the playoffs in the championship

It sounds like he's putting his name forward for the Managers job here.

it would be typical of our current trajectory for him to come here and then for us to finish below Sheffield Wednesday

Anything is possible in Football.

But he seems to back himself to be able to do the job.

That's a good place to start looking for a good Manager, someone with the confidence to do the job. He certainly improved Sheffield Wednesday.

It's poor in that it's notoriously scrappy and there's usually a clear gap in quality between the rotating cast of Premier League dropouts and the rest, which is what makes getting into the playoffs worth shouting about. Doubly so for a team who have spent hardly anything over the past decade or so and who I would guess are comfortably in the bottom half in terms of wages. Gus Hamer cost more than Bristol City's starting eleven last night and I doubt he's the only Sheff Utd player that's true of.

To be clear, I have no particular desire for Manning to come here - I know next to nothing about him and prior to yesterday I doubt I could have picked him out of a lineup. Getting Bristol City to the playoffs is just obviously a good achievement and the sort that will naturally get a manager, especially a young one, linked to better jobs. As far as I can tell it's the second time in their entire history they've made the second tier playoffs, so I would suggest the size of the city doesn't exactly make it a given. If it's not too late for your mam to get her coaching badges sorted then she ought to get cracking because she'll be in demand.

Keep trying to convince her! lol

What I did notice about Bristol City is they are one of the top 30 football club commercial revenue generators in the country, seem to have underachieved for a very long time. A city the size of Bristol would have expected to have had a team in the top flight at some point.
