I am hoping that they are really taking their time and also looking at able replacement for JR. That probably needs to come first so that the appointment is made by someone other than the usual suspects. Happy for them to take their time if it means we get the right people in those key positions.

Then had the nerve to publicly say he hadn't been backed.

Absolutely, yet during his tenure he managed to blow over £250m! Largely on players that never became regulars and ended up playing most of the players he'd already inherited when he arrived. Undoubtedly Rodgers has been a main contributory factor to our demise. His record in the transfer market previously at Liverpool and Celtic had a similar ring about it but could largely get away with it at the latter due to the inferiority of the competition.

It's going to be Ruud?

Ruud van Nistelrooy sets out plan for Leicester City identity and summer transfer targets
The manager spoke last week about the types of players he'd like to see the club focus on this summer transfer window as he looks to build a squad that meet his standards

Robust players with the potential to develop should form the identity of the Leicester City squad and inform their summer transfer business, Ruud van Nistelrooy believes.

Rebuilding the squad in line with a Championship budget is one of the biggest tasks City face this summer, and van Nistelrooy, should he remain in charge, knows the kinds of players he wants.

The Dutchman has been reluctant to publicly share his full plan for how he believes City should move into the future, but has dropped some clues while he waits for the club to show him they’re on the same page.

He’s previously said he would like homegrown talents to form the foundations of the squad, and has now revealed he would want young, physically strong players to be targeted in the transfer window.

Raising the standards has been a big topic in the camp during van Nistelrooy’s tenure and he said he has tried to make the team fitter since taking charge.

Going forward, he wants the club to bring in players who have the physical attributes to prosper.

Asked last week if he felt he’d needed to make the squad fitter, van Nistelrooy replied: “Yes.”

Then asked if he felt the team had not been fit enough upon his arrival, he said: “No, but I felt there were possibilities to improve.

“Together with the people here, there are so many possibilities to make things better and improve. That was one of them, of many.

“Talking about standards, that’s part of that. You can speak about diet, training intensity, strength and conditioning, all the programmes with the professionals we have here, it’s been something we’ve been working on.”

It remains to be seen if van Nistelrooy will lead the team in the Championship, and he cast doubt over that after City’s 2-0 win against Southampton.

But if he is kept on, he wants players that have the mentality and fitness to meet his standards.

“You need to be the fitter team,” he said. “Also in combination with recruitment, it’s important to get physically strong, robust players in, those at a certain age who can develop and have the mindset of what we’re trying to implement.

“That’s what part of our ID is that I shared in moving forward.”

van Nistelrooy keeps talking about the future and identity but he's not walking the walk with his team selections..

I get the impression from the article above he's saying that he's not happy or impressed with the physical condition of a number of the players, so likely going with a squad he feels can do what we need physically consistently. Unfortunately physical ability doesn't win football games, technical and tactical elements have far more impact.

To be fair, we don't have many ready made youth prospects currently at the club.

The next cohort like Alves and Nelson have been on loan, and then next batch down are too young to really make anything more than cameos.

Braybrooke is the one that I'm surprised hasn't got minutes. Next season is now or never for him, he'll be 22 by the end of season season, not exactly a child anymore.

As if he joined a month ago and realised that they were unfit. He has been here how long and hasn't been able to get them to do the most basic aspect of sports - run.

He is fooling himself if he thinks a summer makes any difference.

As for standards - acknowledge the fans once mate. Like you do at your beloved Man U - do you think he has the balls to walk past the Stretford End and not clap the fans - win or lose ? No. Because he respects them. He is a very big part of the poor standards here.  Another area he has failed. Give this guy the pay out he is so desperate for and get him gone. He offers nothing.

He will be top of the worst manager Leicester ever had pub quiz question for years. Taylor will be pleased.

Rumours Carrick is being let go by Boro.

Ive been impressed whenever I’ve seen them and their problem to me looks to be squad depth.

Thoughts if he’s available?

His sides do play attractive but hes a manager who as no plan b. Its all go for it attack which is good to watch, but defence they look awful. It wouldn't surprise me though if we were to approach him though.

It's all well and good Ruud complaining about the fitness of the players. My worry is that if they were fitter under his leadership the just do the wrong things quicker.

Fitness only gets you so far.  The older posters on here will remember Jock Wallace and the physical fitness regime he put the players through - we had a team that would run until they dropped and it got us out of what was then Div.2 (now Championship).  Unfortunately this wasn't enough to keep us up when we got to Div.1 (now PL).  Fitness has to be augmented with skill and tactical awareness.

probably quite happy to see how things go in the last few games before making a decision. There will be more managers available in the summer as well.

Southampton isn’t a Premier League club, any more than we are.

We both are at the moment, and the article clearly states that the club they're referring to is Southampton.
