Not playing down our performance as I thought we were the best team for parts of the game, but I expected more from Brighton. They were awful for a team that’s pushing Europe. And proceeded to get booed off lol

 

Mavididi was running at them directly which was refreshing to see, even if his final choice was often the wrong one.

 

Nothing changes for me though. I still want this manager out.

I think what we've learned from is that we need younger, energetic and more mobile players who want to be here.

 

RVN is done, of course, but I do get the impression that we could thrive under a new manager who wants to play on the front foot with young and pacey players.

 

It's obviously far too late this season for all concerned, but there's cause for optimism if we get the next appointment right and ship out some of the dross.

We had a threat on transition, something that has been missing throughout the season. Two fast wingers meant we could pose the opposition a problem. That's what the modern day Premier League is all about, exploiting the spaces the opposition has when they are out of position on a turnover. Both Mavididi and McAteer ran directly at their fullbacks today, and Bilal was finding them.

 

Brighton could have been well out of sight, but it's a huge frustration we didn't play this way since game one of the season. Cooper was an utter coward not to start Mavididi and Fatawu at the same time, and Ruud clueless about getting the ball forwards quickly when winning the ball back.

 

Had we played this way throughout the campaign I think we would still have gone down, but I doubt we'd be 14 points off 17th position!

So disappointed to see what we have clearly been capable of. Shocking mismanagement all season. 

RVN persisted with same crap players for weeks and relegated us when we clearly have the players to stay up if they are used right. Why has this team only been selected now. 

 

Faes is also clearly a negative influence all over the pitch and we look so much better without him. 

 

We could have been winning games and scoring months ago and still have a chance if it wasn't for R Van Fraud

We finally played with a bit of pace. 
 

Just a shame it took RVN till April to realise that’s what you need in the Premier League. 
 

Not starting Mavididi more regularly, and not getting in a replacement for Fatawu has hurt us massively.

We should’ve gone 3-0 up in the first half, when we were well on top, conceded a desperately poor equaliser from our point of view from a host of poor mistakes first from O’Riley, then Dunk, then finally a bit of fortune with the attempted cross and our keeper getting beaten on the near post… again. 
 

Second half we started brightly again, and again had chances we just didn’t finish. Then you made your triple change and the match completely swung in your favour.

 

You dominated the midfield, with us making two changes which really hurt our shape in return. We suddenly made loads of mistakes, and at 2-1 midway through the second half it was clear you were going to equalise and maybe win it.

 

After your equaliser, your players barely celebrated and were back at the half way line ready to kick off before we were. Mentality wise, that told me your players felt we were on the rocks. We looked tired, and you were pressing like crazy after taking Vardy off - and we couldn’t cope with it. 
 

Belief is an incredible thing and your supporters were making a good noise, whereas we were playing poorly and the atmosphere completely changed in the stadium in the home stands. It filtered through to the players and they made even more poor mistakes.

 

By the end, apart from Solly March looking bright for us, we were fortunate to draw based on how the momentum had turned in the game.

 

With better finishing, the game should’ve been done and dusted from our point of view, but we lacked quality in front of goal today and your triple change gave you the boost you needed. 
 

I realise you’ve lost to worse teams than us, but it does bear repeating that we are currently without Rutter, Webster, Veltman, Lamptey, Van Hecke, Igor, Mitoma, Kadioglu and Milner. We have the worst injury record in the Premier League by some distance, and even many of the players we picked are only just now returning from injury and wouldn’t be picked otherwise. Today we had one fit centre-back (Dunk) and no striking options whatsoever on the bench. Our best central midfielder was playing at centre-half.

 

All of these things are reasons though, not excuses, and all in all after your subs you looked like a completely different side.

Alot of pingpong in our box, their shots on target were bounced off our players, was it poor shots or our players standing in their way 🤷🏽.

But upfront we great in the second half and we're all over them after we equalised and went for the winner

Mavididi is a hit and miss player that has been totally left out in a time where we've been 'miss' every single game. He's a bit of chaos factor, in a good way.
