I wonder what Vardy would be like going into a new training room, especially at big club. Here he had licence to be a wind-up merchant, annoy people and take the piss and basically do whatever he wants.

I think he was overly positive about finding a new club.

I honestly thought with the way he left so early he already had something lined up

If he still wants 100k+ a week I'm not surprised he's not got something.

If he doesn't go MLS or A League I think he retires. He's probably loving not having to get back in for pre-season.

I'd imagine we're the only club in the world that would have offered him the wages we did after the age of 32/33. Reality is probably hitting pretty hard right now.

The team around him are all deluded and blowing smoke up his arse (wife included)

They don’t realise they had it so good here

It would be impossible to be near Vardy on a regular basis and not blow smoke up his arse.

I don't know why he didn't have an Asian or American move lined up. Who is his agent? Just smash a year in saudi

He talked about another year in the Prem. I would assume for him that provides more kudos than running to the football retirement home.

Of course, if there is no PL move available then im sure those options will be taken seriously.

Should go and get as much as he can in Saudi or the states. His premier league days are behind him now.Clubs would take him as a reasonable experienced squad filler but they would probably be offering

Pay per game on top of a modest basic.

He's been badly advised, should have been pushing for player manager here, with a football Biased DOF.

Rangers apparently only offered him about £50k/w.

That’s reasonable tbh. He’s 38. I get wanting a payday but you’re not getting that from a real club. He’ll have to chose between a football decision and a financial one because nobody serious is giving him 80k

Only? Thats about 20k more than their current highest earner and probably about 30k more than the vast majority of their squad.

It may not be a lot by PL/Championship standard but be SPFL standards it is a crazy show of intent.

Yeah, i mean i love Vardy and everything hes done for the club, but if I was a Man Utd fan, id be embarrassed signing him at his age now.

Like others have said, he probably expected to have clubs lining up for him, which, im sure he has, but unlikely to be the calibre he first expected.

Compared to what he was on here it's a pittance!

I’m really not sure what sort of contract offers he was expecting….

it feels like someone is advising him badly if he’s holding out for more than 50k  and from a prem team aswell..

Which makes you realise we’ve got zero chance of offloading that scouse waffler to them unless we heavily subsidise his wage

I'd take £5k a week from my current job if they offered. I'd take £500 a week if I was retired too lol

I always did feel a certain type of way when he was as complicit as most for us getting relegated, then leaves saying he wants to stay in the Premier League.

I don't know why i felt it, I just did. I know he was over used etc etc but yeah, let's not pretend it wasnt like playing with 10 men most the time.

He was complicit in that horrible run of games we had without a goal. Too much trust with given to him, and he had lots of golden chances to score, many in very early phases of games. He is such a hero that when those chances dont go in, heads drop and he wasnt a good enough captain to raise everyones spirits.

I hate myself for thinking that.

100% but there is absolutely no way he could have entered any sort of talks with Rangers and expected much more. By their standards, it's a crazy offer.
