9 will be what the EFL/PL recommend. The independent commission will tell them to stop being silly. It'll end up becoming anywhere between 4 and 6.

Agreed and assuming we appeal which usually means a reduction, as you say I think it will start at 9 and then end up at 6 maximum.

If it does turn out to be maximum of 9 points, I'd take that as a win. If Marti can stabilise whats left of the current crop, with 2 maybe 3 new recruits (loans most likely) then I'd be more than confident of a shout at the top 6. Top 2 was always a struggle anyway, I fancy Ipswich to run away with it, then after the window it'll be much of a muchness between us, Sheffield United, Birmingham and Southampton before a deduction.

Definitely keeps us competitive for the top 6 though. Will be out the bottom 3 by match day 10

It’s hard to know what to make of the Dorsett comment. I haven’t seen the clip, but it sounds like he just casually dropped the claim about -9 points into a conversation about the appointment of Cifuentes. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t chosen to publish a story on it or tweet about it, which you would fully expect him to do if it was a story he’d just uncovered. .

The reason I don’t think it can be dismissed entirely is that Dorsett is a cautious journalist who only tends to write or say things that he’s pretty confident in. I also get the impression he’s one of the very few journalists who occasionally obtain genuine info from inside the club. On several occasions in recent years he has been the first to shoot down inaccurate stories about us. Somebody at the club talks to him.

It would be interesting to see the clip. I’d like to know whether it’s just Dorsett’s personal view (in which case it doesn’t mean much), the view of the PL/EFL (which would likely be an overestimation of the final deduction) or the view within the club (in which case there might be something in it).

Until it's set in stone we can't make any judgement calls. PSR and breaches is a lot of old nonsense as other clubs have been breaking the rules for years and getting away with it.

We get what we deserve, when we do, we wipe our mouths and move on, let it be lessons learnt to the idiots who've got us into this mess.

If Dorsett is accurate and it is 9 points, I would certainly see that as a win, but I don't think it will be the end of it, I think behind closed doors we expect a transfer embargo too, which is why we are seeing a lot of the kids in pre-season.

Unless the independent panel has taken place he it's a best a guess.

It's would be very unwise the club or the PL to share any information with a journalist before an independent panel held in private.

It's all noise. Journos can't get anyway near that committee. The club are briefing that they think a deduction would be recoverable in two games (ie. max of 6 points)

Interesting. Where have you heard that?

When are people going to learn that there’s a huge, huge difference between what journalists  think we’re going to be deducted, what the EFL/Premier League WANT to deduct from us, and what our representatives will achieve for us in the independent panel.

The EFL/PL both made multiple accusations and charges against us in the last two years. They failed to prove a single one against us. In fact, they actively managed to prove we hadn’t broken any of their rules. Worse, THEY are the ones who had broken their own rules. They even admitted their own rules were poorly written. We’re literally 4-0 up.

Ignore the likes of Dorsett making predictions. It’s not based upon anything other than guesswork, ignorance of what’s actually happened, and fealty to the hand that feeds.

Spot on.

6 points deduction, isn't insurmountable for automatic promotion. The championship won't be as strong as last year imo, yes some teams have signed good players but we are a 20 goal striker away imo from getting automatic promotion imo.

I’m thinking six and I reckon the club might decide to take that on the chin if they think that will be the end of it

I want it to be six simply to be able to witness the collective mental breakdown on social media from fans of other clubs who'd convinced themselves it would be 15 or something...

But then we play the first 10 games with Soumare, Faes, Daka and Ayew to make it more difficult on ourselves.

It would further highlight how bad these rules and regs actually are.

What people have also got to consider is we are now cooperating with the independent panel…. Previously we didn’t need to as the EPL had breached their own regulations through misinterpretation. So there’s nothing aggravated about that, as the EPL are rather pathetically claiming…. So as far as the independent panel are concerned this is a fresh claim for which we are cooperating. Forest had a more lenient punishment for this, so I’m expecting potentially if anything at all, 6 reduced to 4.

Well hopefully any independent commission will look at the actions of the EPL and EFL and find their conduct and treatment of us it the same as the treatment others have received. Would imagine it would be very hard to prove their failure to enforce the rules on others has not impacted on us

The standard of the Championship and our run in could be a huge factor to this.

This season, lets face it the biggest threats are probably Ipswich and possibly Birmingham if they bounce.

Our run in in the past few months is decent, and should we be a few points back around Feb, I'd fancy us to go straight up.

All depends on if we get a decent striker in of course.
