Didn't the Sun story that prompted all this speculation around Dyche say that he wanted to wait until we had confirmation over the points deduction before committing? And given that we very likely won't hear anything on the PSR punishment for several months, wouldn't this rule him out (assuming the story was true)?

the sun didnt say anything about Dyche accepting, just said hes a strong favourite

And that claim was based solely on a six-week-old story that Alan Nixon used to pad out his actual story (that RVN would be sacked on 1 July). I can't escape the feeling that these Dyche rumours are being given far more credibility than they deserve...

For me the key point here is we need a manager that can build a team to play on the front foot and take the game to the opposition. The difference in quality between the Championship and the Premier League is now massive, we’ve all seen it. Our squad will be one of the strongest in the Championship despite their failings in the Prem. I have massive doubts that Dyche can manage our team in a way to get the best out of players that fundamentally want to control the ball and dictate the game. We need to approach this season like the season under Enzo and we need to recruit a manager that will do that.

The issue is I don't see him as a long term option. I think he would get us promoted but then the issue is we're in the same situation as the season just gone.

He's a better manager than Van Nistelrooy though.

What's long term???

BRodgers & Pearson are the only manager that have been at the club more than 100+ games since Micky Adams (2004-21 years) i.e. a little over 2 seasons, cast your eyes over managers in the top 2 divisions.  With any manager now its about season 1 + 1, coz if they are good they will be poached or leave after 1-2 seasons, if they are rubbish they are sacked.  And lets be honest RVN is probably the most ineffective useless manager we ever had and Cooper was likely to fail as the season went on as he would have been given no money in Jan and they weren't good enough.

I always think, we all think we have a choice, like Cooper, we don't really or the pool is really small of PROVEN managers at the Champs/PL level.  Maresca was a risk but the club backed him a little, the man incoming will have little to work with aside from whats left and probably little or no money.

When we are a mid table PL side we are more attractive, till then its the slops, just get a guy in that can get results and some limited success i.e. quick promotion.

We'd love attacking football but a goodly percentage got bore of Enzo's tik a taka after half a season & weren't unhappy when he went to Chelsea.

If the club appoint Dyche they can kiss my boney ass.

Complete indication that all strategy and planning has gone out of the window and that the golden era is over. Just back to getting jobbing managers and hoping something sticks.

We were light years ahead of the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth, and Brentford, and in 2-3 years we’ve fallen a decade behind them.

Pro-Dyche. I don’t think he’s nearly as anti-youth as people think. His downside in terms of style and low-scoring matches is well documented, but I think he’s the kind of strong presence that would greatly benefit the club right now, including the young flair players coming through.

That doesn’t make me anti-Rohl; I’d be happy with either for different reasons. I’m mostly just glad it’s not Martin.

Think I'm just about on the anti side. I think he's a better manager than a lot give him credit for but I think if you factor in the following:

- Everton fans have accused him of reputation management similar to Brendan Rodgers

- The possibility of it simply not working

- Him being pally with Rudkin

You've got the potential of another completely toxic 2022/23 like scenario where everyone's at loggerheads but the manager will be held to no account because he's Rudkin's mate. This lowers the floor of Dyche at Leicester and makes it a little too risky for me.

I agree. People say Rohl is a risk but the floor as you say; is a lot lower and much more financially draining with Dyche than with Rohl. The potential rewards are much higher with Rohl also.

Since we've gave a useless owner and DoF, we need a manager who can lead and stabilise the club. I'm not particularly fond of Dyche, but he's fits the bill of what the club needs now.

Not only that but if he makes us a success again he is not going to do a runner unlike Maresca

If he did well enough to attract a bigger club (he won’t he stinks) he would leave though

Doubt it, did that and it went wrong.

Are you thinking of Eddie Howe? Dyche has been sacked from all three of his jobs

you cant build a top training complex and then put Dyche in control

I thought the 'top training complex' has been part of the problem according to some on here. Too pampered etc. Don't think Vestergaard will be walking his dog around if Dyche is there.

A year ago, no way. Right now, we're a basket case of a club, a bad managerial decision away from successive relegations and likely to lose a lot of our remaining assets in the next month. So am I wildly enthusiastic? No. But "we are where we are".

We need someone to instill defensive stability - Dyche. Create a siege mentality of us against them - Dyche. And teach players to grind out scrappy results - Dyche.

If Dyche was our manager and did well enough for Chelsea to come sniffing, he’s gone. So respectfully you are wrong @ithuriel

Incorrect, until it happens, I am not wrong, if he was ever that successful, you'd be bemoaning him ever leaving though :P

All that talk about backing the manager when it was RVN, it feels like Cooper vibes here.

Back him, we need someone like Dyche who will go back to basics.

In fairness it’s all about opinions, some managers people like others people don’t. I think it’s about how fans perceive playing style, player profile and how they will use the academy prospects, personally whilst I know he had faults I loved Enzo, had a clear philosophy that i liked, set a winning culture and mentality, challenged the club to be better in everything we did, used our academy, there was a lot to like.

With Dyche, he is everything that I don’t like, playing style that is defensive, dour and lacks flair, isn’t a massive advocate of younger players, his methods are out dated and limited, also I think he has run his course in top flight football except as a fire fighter for 10 games to try and get you out of relegation trouble.

His time was 10 years ago, what he achieved with Burnley was really good, but they were and still are a very different club to us. Dyche is a great fit for certain clubs and situations, and for me neither is the right fit for him at LCFC.
