Needs to play regularly just not for us - needs a loan where he can play without pressure - expectations here are top 6 although I believe we are miles away from that but than less we write the season off to bed in youngsters he is just not ready

I've watched Vardy go out on a pitch and cost us the game in a league match missing a hattrick of sitters.

It can happen to anyone.

Judging any footballer on a single appearance is stupid.

Not it's not. It's the only way you can have a 100% factually correct view. Everyone knows that

You can criticise him without writing him off after one poor game.

He could be MOTD contender in his next 3 starts. Far too early to say.

However, just as with Okoli at the weekend. I have seen enough that I wouldn't start either of them in the league for the time being.

As much as I dislike Faes and Vesty. They should be our CB pairing for now. Nelson will get his chance again soon enough.

I know some are writing Nelson off, but it’s a bit early to be talking about a career in punditry instead, no?!

He was a standout on Oxfords side last season, so how can he not be ready?

I think he just had a bad day, but it’s no coincidence he drastically improved when Winks came on. It’s that midfield, Soumare and Skipp offer nothing at all, and they present a huge weakness, they expose those centre back two.

I genuinely think he was affected by what looked like a very slow surface last night. The ball got stuck under his feet. He put a couple of passes in that didn’t have enough pace to get to where they needed to go and he wasn’t the only one. It put him and the rest of the team of their game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t a Terriers tactic to over water the pitch. Whatever, he had a poor game but that happens. He looked quality for us last time in The Championship and Oxford fans rated his loan last season so he will come good.

It was just a bad 45 minutes nothing more than that really

Can tell he's got lots of potential. There have been a few good moments.

But not at the level yet, clearly. Like them or loathe them, Faes and Vestergaard are several notches above.

But don't forget that 3 days before the manager didn't know what he was doing starting Vestergaard over Nelson according to most on this forum...

I thought he did okay other than the first half mistakes.  He improved in the second.

First half Hamza playing at right back definitely did not do him any favours as he kept playing under hit passes to him after dwelling on the ball too long.  Hamza kept turning inside and playing back or square rather than against Fiorentina he let the ball come across him and played forward and out to the winger. I also think that’s why Alves didn’t impress as he didn't  see much of the ball first half.

Sadly our ineptness means he won't have another opportunity in the league cup to break into the first team.

We have 46 league games, he will get opportunities.

Yesterday was a poor showing from Nelson especially in the first 45 minutes and I think he'll be the first to say that his performance wasn't the best.

I'm confident though that he'll go on to become one of our best CBs.

The guy has one dodgy first half and there’s people crying, there’s players that have been here for seasons, and play that bad week in, week out!

was awful first half but I think he improved second half, would have preferred to see him partnered with anyone other than Sideshow Bob, I think Vestergaard for all his faults would have done a better job of talking him through that horror spell in the first half and probably calmed him down much quicker

Stolarczyk came to us when he was 15/16.

My bad mate.

Still think Jakub is a different type to a lad who joins us at 8 or 9 years old and comes all the way through the academy like Monga, Alves, Nelson  et al.

Agree, didn't have a great game and seemed very shaky at one point but he pulled himself together.

Nowhere near his Oxford form especially the games since he was injured (except the QPR game where the whole team weren't great). At this point in his career he needs someone helping him out on the pitchand I don't think that is Faes or Hamza.

As someone else said, Hamza at right back did him no favours.
