Another year of putting up with this crap.

Rather this than VAR

All the refs make errors.. but when a computer takes half hour to make an incorrect decision it kills the game.

I love renting at a ref for being useless.. the errors tend to level themselves each season

What a surprise, Gavin Ward is still honking.

Every single little pull or time they fell over he gave them a free kick. Every time they were pulling us and dragging us down to the ground absolutely nothing. He’s a proper little dweeb, so inconsistent it’s unbelievable and just a terrible referee.

The ref was the least of our worries.

Yep - didn’t have any hard decisions to make. But was still very much useless.

The way daka and ayew handle the physical battles doesn’t help them get a decision

V inconsistent sums his performance up

If the centrebacks can grab and hold onto shirts and arms to win a header clearing the ball away, the forwards should be given the same latitude. Every time (admittedly rare) Daka or Ayew won the overly physical duel, it was a whistle. When the defenders win, it was always play on. I just want some consistency.

What do we think today?

He's a fraction late but all of the contact seems to come from his tucked leg and the player had the time to touch the ball and turn away as the contact came in. Silly to throw himself in there but usually only see yellows given for that.

Exactly my opinion.

I think it's a red. It's the flying into the tackle that probably does it for the ref. Even though it's only one foot and not two off the ground.

I'm undecided on whether it is or not, but I don't think the ref gives it without them screaming for it. On the whole he was a shit ref anyway, constantly blowing up

Stupid tackle by Ramsey especially when the ref had shown he was more than happy to get the cards out early doors. However what should get even more attention is the offside decision in the 1st half when he allowed Oxford to take the free kick 10 yards in our half, absolutely appalling refereeing.

4. Offences and sanctions

If an offside offence occurs, the referee awards an indirect free kick where the offence occurred, including if it is in the player’s own half of the field of play.

the ref was perfectly correct. Law changed a few years ago

It’s never a red. He let the Oxford players get in his head even though he had probably shared a changing room with them anyway. Absolutely woeful. Arrogant. Any time they got touched foul. Wasn’t the same the other way round. So poor.

For me it’s a Yellow and not a red but, having said that, I don’t think it’s an awful decision.

It’s one of those where VAR shouldn’t overturn it either way

Unfortunately we will have plenty of inexperienced refs with egos like today that will be influenced by fans, players and ultimately by unconscious bias. I think today for whatever reason we had a ref that managed the two teams differently.

How can a player be offside in his own half, especially 10 yards inside.

You don't know the rule. He was offside and controlled the ball in our half. The fk gets taken from where it's touched. Been the rule for at least a year if not two

pedantically speaking the offence occurs where the offside player interferes with play - that could be where he touches the ball but not necessarily.

I enjoyed putting my 14 y o in his place when he rushed in to tell me the ref had made a mistake !

so sad 😄
