Faes is the only defender we have who can move faster than a snail.  Without him Marti will have to change tactics, and basically leave Vestergaard and Okoli sitting a few feet in front of the goal, because that’s the only way they’ll be there to stop an attack.

He’s a *****, but he’s our best centre back. Happy with this only if we replace him.

I am nipping B&Q later. I will get a yard brush and stick a bucket on it's head. It will still be better than half out defenders.

Faes is our best defender (unfortunately) but i think he is so synonymous with our decline and is clearly a negative or disruptive influence within the camp that a parting of ways would be best. He clearly thinks he is better than us and also is sulking that nobody has rescued him from his nightmare. We simply must sign a mobile CB with pace and leadership quality to aid the development of Nelson & Okoli and avoid the need to rely on Lurch.

We'll still want defenders who can play the ball.  We'll just want ones that can run a bit too.

He doesn't start though?

I just want some 4-4-2 with big monster CBs who smash the ball away. Wouldnt that just be delightful lol

Faes is the current holder of the 'Alan Rogers Memorial Trophy, which is my little make believe trophy I award in my head each season to the player i really dont like/think is crap etc.

Whilst he is the holder and I want him gone, the rational part of my brain (very small bit dwarfed by the emotional side) recognises that he's probably our best CB right now, is no where near as bad as we (I) claim, losing him my have consequences and relying on prospects is risky. Question is: do we accept that risk and not whinge and moan when/if his loss is really being felt?

I think yes.

I'll try and remind myself of this during the season

I don't know it as an insider, but I think his body language is pretty negative, the way he flaps his arms and blames others when goals go in, his lack of warmth when he scored, comments he has made in the Belgian press. He looks miserable and disengaged in the same way Winks does and that can't be beneficial to the group.

He’s our best player can’t let him go we would need at least £25 million to even think about it
