I think they are over rated and we are coming into our stride game by game, we have enough quality to beat these at home.

Coming into our stride!!?

What are you on about?  lollol

We have been borderline abysmal for 4 games straight with very little sign of it getting better anytime soon

We’re going to get blitzed on Friday night.
Charlton had a hat full of chances and we got very lucky.

Sooner or later you’ll get found out and I don’t think we’ve seen the worst of this yet.

How many years have we had no stability in defence - you reap what you sow

No former title-winning player should be given a bad reception and the same goes for Demarai Gray. There’s fans who will remember him more for his attitude while at the club which is understandable, but let’s not forget the role he played in helping us get over the line in 2016. He also commented on social media when we won the FA Cup in 2021, which was good to see.

He played < 180 minutes for us that season, 45 of which were in the game after we’d already won the title.

His attitude and application stunk the place out, and remains much more in my mind than any ‘contribution’ he may have made in 2015/16.

They might have a bit of a go which may leave to some space for Abdul and monga. But I didn’t watch the game yesterday day and sounds like I should have no reason to be positive.

I'm clinging onto the hope that we may do ok against better teams that don't park the bus. Seems strange to say considering how many chances Charlton created but they were happy to sit off us most of the match which didn't allow any space in the final 3rd which isn't ideal for a team that has zero creativity.

I'd love us to beat them to shut up their obnoxious fans but given where we are right now, a draw wouldn't be terrible.

Genuinely puzzled by some of our fan base talking about what we need this season for promotion. Comments like Okoli is not Premier League, so he shouldn't be here.

We are miles away from promotion. What's more, I don't want to go anywhere near promotion. They must be post 2016 happy clappers. We need a few seasons building a stronger base, like Sunderland have done, and possibly West Brom. are doing. Can you imagine the carnage if this side went up? We'd be straight back down, faster than a McAteer transfer.

We're also likely to get a points deduction. With this squad, and the potential punishment, the goal this season should be, as good a season as we can, establishing ourselves in the Championship. I'd say Okoli is good enough for the Championship, and that's good enough for now.

Where we are now, just outside the play-offs would be perfect. We need to give the youngsters time, we need to clear out the dead wood. I'd say we need three seasons in the Championship, then let's see where we are. At this stage, the P word is just divisive, and delusional. Time for a reality check for some, who I'm sure would enjoy the campaign a whole lot more if they took one.

Honestly. Everyone know the gap between the Premier league and Championship is ever widening, but some people still think that 'relegation will help sort us out' and 'a few years down here' will help, is madness!

You only have to look at our player quality in the relegation season under Rogers and the one we returned to the prem with to understand the impact.

But if you think additional seasons in the Championship will help, that's crazy. Before you know it we will be in transfer battles with preston and Burton for £2m nothing players.

If we do sign anyone who turns out to be good, they will be poached in short order by a prem team for a pittance.

And thats for being like Sunderland? They absolutely fluked the play offs the signed lots of players....

We've played 4 teams already who are either in League One, come from League One or should be in League One and struggled in all of them. Now on to our 5th consecutive one and this one could be a battering.

Preston?

Someone will have to let me know.  Why exactly are we scared of Birmingham City?

Because they’re riding a positive wave, they smashed league last season and so far are looking alright this season.

Energetic, pacey front line who have goals in them. They will see this as a bit of an Acid test to see where they are, and will be well up for it.

Us on the other hand, will continue to look disinterested, and amble around the pitch with little effort.

I don’t think any of us fear Birmingham we fear ourselves.

Was that the case yesterday? Our performance lacked quality and we rode our luck, but I would not describe the way we defended the lead as ‘disinterested’ or showing ‘little effort’.

Its a local derby live on TV against one of the best sides in the league, so it's pretty big yeah.

Birmingham a local derby? Its an hours drive away 😂. Can guarentee no one in Birmingham has ever thought we are a big game for them. Ive never heard it from this side before either

To go against the negativity, I actually think this game might suit us more than all the ones we’ve played previously this season.

They’ll actively attack us more themselves, rather than waiting for us to make mistakes and counter. While they’ll inevitably hurt us, they should in theory leave more space for the wingers to exploit.

Big if, but if we can counter ourselves and get the ball to the wingers at speed I think we’ll have some joy.

I’m going 2-1 city.

I'd say youth is the way forward. We're supposed to have these amazing facilities.

Anyway it's immaterial as we're nowhere near good enough to get promoted. I just don't think it will do Marti, the young players, or anyone else connected with the club, any good if we put that must have promotion pressure on them all season, especially when we all know deep down we're miles off. We've no proven goalscorer, we're staring down the barrel of a points deduction. Don't do it to yourself

Its not big as in a fierce rivalry it's just big in the realms of the championship, 2 big clubs, it's a Midlands derby, both expected from the outside to be challenging at the top. In that sense it's a big game.
