Savage climb down from him incoming. Those comments earlier in the year I think are the worst we've had, worse than the Madison ones sadly. Will be interesting to see if he puts his money where his mouth is and signs permanently in the summer, if by some miracle we can afford it.

Leicester City: 'Out of your mind to think' of Foxes in League One, says Jordan James - BBC Sport

I do wonder how often he thinks about that interview lol

Why would he do that when he will probably have offers from clubs being promoted? Not his fault the rest of the team let him and us down is it

"If you think Leicester can be in League One, then you have lost your mind," the 21-year-old told BBC Radio Leicester.

"The players we have got are Premier League players and it will show. I genuinely believe that.

"I won't let that [relegation to League One] happen, a lot of players won't let that happen, the leaders in the group won't let it happen."

Yeah that's brutal on reflection lol

Tbf I like that he had that fight and determination in him.

I don't hear him say that and think he's complacent or delusional. It wasn't like Madders saying everything would be fine.

You obviously don't want him rolling over and giving up do you?

If we had a whole squad with his attitude and confidence we'd probably be top half. I don't think he should regret what he's said, it reflects badly on the rest of the squad more than him.

Agree - my main problem with it was "The players we have got are Premier League players"

Sorta betrays the idea that the squad thought 'we'll be OK' and where did they even get the idea that we had a ton of 'PL players' anyway? Just because you've played in the league doesn't mean you're actually of that quality. Other than an in form Fatawu, we don't have a single 'PL quality' player in the squad.

Yup, he said he won’t let that happen and he can hand on heart say he’s given it his all. Not his fault that he’s surrounded by numpties.

Lets be real - he wasnt going to say anything else was he. Most of the players were purchased and paid as Premier League players. He's hardly going to sit in an interview and start saying they were overpaid chancers who barely meet Championship standards. He's a young lad.

As Finnegan says this is different to Maddison who openly mocked a journalist following a defeat to Southampton. Jordans interview had fight in it. Just the issue is, he is one of only a few who cared.

Again, what you want him to say? "This squad is crap, the lads are shit, I'm going to have to carry them all"?

He's just trying to give everyone a lift and inspire a bit of confidence all round isn't he. Nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes I think some of you on here want everything to be so literal and direct. You need a bit of room for tact, diplomacy and man management.

My only problem with it was that the quote came after that Sheffield United home game where we were 3-0 down after 20 minutes.

I certainly thought that we could go down after that performance.

I would be absolutely fine with him saying that 😅

If we can afford him I think the contract side will already be agreed?

If so hopefully we can sell everyone around him and go into next year with him, Nelson, Souttar and Stolarczyk as our senior spine and build with the young lads and new signings around them, I’d be happy to spend the 5m on him and half the rest of the budget, most of our signings should be freebies or loans anyway

Unless he has some bizarre devotion to the club then I dont see why anyone is wasting any energy thinking about this. Let him go and find his level. He is young, but hes way above L1 level and he's not KDH who felt he owed something back to the club.

Hope he can get his injury niggles sorted so he can enjoy a good career.

I’m assuming the best case scenario here is we sign him for £5m as per the option then sell him for say £10m? Possibly to a promoted club or someone like that. Unless Ligue 1 to League 1 was on his career plan.

So do we actually have a clause to trigger him permanently?

To be honest, as much as I would usually say "he agreed to the terms" if there is anyone i'd feel guilty about triggering this on, it's JJ. This poor ****er deserves the premier league, not being in the gutter down in league 1 with us, when he signed we were a team looking to fight our way to the playoffs, yes there is always a risk that any team might go down, you could sign for Man City and be relegated, he really doesn't deserve it.

Would be good if we could trigger a permanent signing then sell him for profit, the selfish part of me says he will absolutely destroy the championship with Page alongside him, and he could captain us for years to come and be part of a revival story.

Er guys...I'm not attacking JJ himself. Merely saying his comments suggest the (largely agree upon amongst us) problems with the mentality of the squad.

And just because I'm saying he shouldn't have said X doesn't mean I think he should have said the opposite of X

Pretty sure he'd still have to agree to stay with us. The option would just be a pre-agreed fee with the selling club that we get dibs on.

I feel pretty confident we shan't be seeing him in a Leicester shirt again.

There's only situation I could see that happening in. We tell Jordan that we'll buy him and sell him to another club if they come in with an offer of £10m. Rudkin messes the deal up and the poor lad ends up stuck with us. lol
