I know yeah, but if you follow on what I posted, I meant it's interesting people posting about it being tough considering Oxford haven't won a game this season. Typical football pessimism.

Go into this thinking it's gonna be tough if it isn't you wont be disappointed 

 

That's the way I approach every game .. otherwise you become something called complacent and entitled

I have, but it was probably about 35 years ago. So I’m not sure it’s a great point of reference :D

At the end of the day it comes down to strategy. Louis Page for example would come under your metric of failing his audition at Charlton but the manager is developing him on the pitch rather than a more gentler approach on the training pitch over time, which is brave and great to see.

 

Nelson is 21, he spent 3 years on the cusp of game time here without making a an appearance under Brendan yet it was clear as day he is a massive talent. Enzo used him sparingly but there was enough there to show he was already ready at this level. Last season cemented that pre and pist his injury at Oxford. Several MoTM performances and done his apprenticeship at this level if you like. There's simply no question marks over his credentials to build the team around him as we embark on a new era.

 

As i've said, it's easy for fans to dismiss this like they have in the past on players not being given a chance. The managers knows best, if they were ready they'd play blah blah blah. 

 

Also, he was absolutely fine 2nd half vs Huddersfield, but his nightmare first half overrules that seemingly.

 

Genuinely got minimal weakness as well. Both footed, fairly quick, good on the ball, good in the air, composed. It really is peculiar. Only two years left on his deal as well, on a talent thats got the potential to play for England and be worth £40m + million with a strong season at this level this year.

Overall I think we can say Marti has got it pretty spot on, and if he hasn't he seems willing to change it. I'm sure those that deserve so will get required minutes. I'm even more positive about him after his interview with the BBC last night. His willingness to play Monga and Page should mean he will have no problem playing Nelson if he feels he deserves to. Right now Vestergaard and Okoli are doing enough to keep their shirts. Competition is healthy.

Don't disagree with that, i'd perhaps not start Nelson currently anyway but would like to see him get some minutes from the bench. Classy player and we do need to be mindful of his future.

It’s another game where we’ve got to be prepared for their players and fans being up for it. The same can be said for many games this season, as one of the big scalps in this league. Let’s hope the difference in quality shows through, it should do, even more so now that the squad has been added to.
