Is it okay to not hate Wrexham?

It’s not oil/state money, they’ve stuck with the same manager, they’ve hired good football people, invested locally.

Yes they’ve had big budgets every season but Parkinson has also brought the best out of some very very average players.

I’d be more inclined to be pissed off with SKY and TNT if the constant love ins annoy you.

If you're not a reactionary blowhard, it's pretty much normal.

A long-suffering fanbase for a club which has gotten screwed by rotten ownership and bad luck over and over. Why not be happy for them for having some good fortune? The notion that they've somehow bought all this success is laughable on the face of it. Does the money help? Obviously. But they've been outspent by some other clubs at every level and still managed to keep progressing. That's not down to money, it's down to very shrewd boardroom decisions and talent acquisition (and Parkinson gets his share of the credit too). Even when the haters smugly predicted the Championship would eat them for lunch they're right there in the playoff mix.

There's a reflexing hate on anything with an American connection to it around here, never mind Hollywood. I wonder how many would be bitching if we had Wrexham's ownership and management instead of the ones we've got now.

They have smashed it commercially. Something we failed to do.

Their USP was the owners and they hired the best people at where they were at the time (Shawn Harvey and that Fleur whose dad owns Burton I think) and used their connections to maximise sponsorships which large companies like United Airlines and of course the Disney+ documentary. They were spending more as they were making more than their competitors but like you say, good decisions along the way.

I thought they were going to fall away when they wasted money on Ward and Coady but they carry on. That is the first sign of trouble though and they will not get away with making to many like that.

I don’t mind them either. Clearly invested in the local area too. Everyone’s a winner.

To be fair as well their fans aren’t particularly annoying on socials either

I dont mind the club, the investment or Rob or Ryan backing it. They've played a blinder with the documentary boosting the profile of the club internationally leading to big sponsorship deals for their level, thats fair play.

The two minor annoyance are the media hype which is expected and when they are portrayed as an impossible dream type story when in reality they'll been bankrolled and had funding from the local council too.

I notice the next round is played on a date league fixtures are due to go ahead .

So can see teams trying to avoid having to re arrange another game .

Probably shows how the FA cup is viewed now .

Doesn’t have a stand alone day for itself.

I refuse to believe there are people who don't find Ryan Reynolds and his corny persona incredibly irritating.

But I think the ambivalence towards Wrexham probably comes more from the documentary and what this represents about modern football more than the on field success itself. This is then compounded by the fact that anytime you express scepticism towards the project you are met with a million comments from centrist dads reminding you what Rob and Ryan have done for the community mate yeah?

9 games at 3pm. Should be around 23/24. They really have dampened the intrigue into this competition, pushed on by the likes of Klopp.

Sick of this Wrexham fairytale and written in the stars nonsense.

They spent in excess of 40,000,000 this season and are in the top 10 of the championship for wages In only their first season!

Loving the multiview option on the ESPN app, we can only get this for the FA Cup. All four of the early matches, with the choice of commentary. Much easier to tolerate Leicester on the small screen.

Notts haven't even posted that they've lost on Twitter. Such an insecure little bunch lol

IIRC they've won nothing since the 80s Clough years. We'd probably be insecure if we'd won nothing for 40 odd years.

I love the romance of the FA Cup and drama that comes with it as much as the next guy, but Guy Mowbray on the Palace game, saying the Macclesfield owner looked close to tears because he was merely smiling at their opener, was certainly a stretch too far in hyping it up.

Palace certainly are in a bit of a slump right now.

All is not well. Manager likely to go, captain definitely will, not great in Europe and now potentially this.

This will be the biggest cup upset ever in terms of position of the respective teams.

And the first holders to go out to a non-league side in over 100 years.
