We tend to do well against these on the whole but we've caught them at quite a bad time. They might've just stumbled on something good with this caretaker manager who I can see getting the gig permanently on yesterdays evidence.

Southampton have been very peculiar this season, seem to dominate most games but find a way to lose. Wouldn't shock me if similar happened - can't have any faith that we'll play well.

I'll say fortuitous 2-2.

Potential for the first whalloping of the season. Expect it'll play out similar to the Middlesborough game in terms of them spending the majority of the game in and around our third

We shouldn't be fearful of these. Surely a freak scoring 5 in a half considering how bad these have been.

Improved since they sacked their manager. Who knew.

Bit of a freak but they have absolutely battered them looking at the stats and they've had a few games lately where they've created loads and just couldn't score. This feels like a bad time to play them for me.

Relax everyone, we always beat Southampton

Lost twice to them in the first relegation season of the decade when they finished bottom. We lost 2-1 to them at home after beating them 9-0 at their place in that season. Nothing is guaranteed. Personally would take a point but is very winnable.

I imagine Ayew and BDCR will start on Tuesday as they didn’t start at the weekend…

I think he starts the three in midfield again and Ayew. He’s a very cautious manager and will look at the influence of Azaz (he looks a player by the way) and decide it’s better to stop him than compete. Might work away from home but I’m not sure it’s the way to go.

My local game. Can see it being a draw Tuesday, although for the first 20 minutes today Saints looked very impressive.

my local game too, but just don't see a draw, they are scoring for fun all of a sudden and we simply don't create enough. I would take a draw without question. Was there for the 4-1 Puel fest and the glorious 9-0, but we are a very poor copy of those sides

I missed the 9-0. The last time I got to a match at St Mary’s was back in 2014 when we lost 2-0.

That Southampton back line is still a bit vulnerable. Manning struggles to defend against pace and Wood is rash at times. On current form it’ll be close and I’ll settle with a draw.

He’s such a cautious manager he’ll set us up so that Soton can’t break down our attacks because Ayew will have already done that.
