Rob Edwards getting sacked by Wolves apparently. Doubt he'd drop down to League One. Doubt I want him either. But it's not Martin.

Leicester city manager search headlines/rumours are weeks of "x manager is in advance talks' or 'x manager is close to agreeing' or 'Leicester are confident in appointing X manager'

 

Other clubs are more "x manager in advance talk' then 'The club are pleased to announce....." 

 

And yes X is better than RM. We are champion faffers.

Dave Challinor is widely regarded as one of the ultimate "promotion masters" in the lower tiers of English football. Across a 16-year managerial career, his teams have finished in a playoff spot or higher in 15 different seasons. 

 

Give me this guy over Russel "big name" Martin every day of the week. 

Challinor will be the guy for the proper rebuild.

Not sure why people are asking and suggesting others. We a getting Russell Martin. Our Russell Martin. Great to see  the owners persistence pay off. We have our man, the one we have been longing for. Good to see we will pay him what he wants too. 🥰

Personal opinion is that the mistakes at the back that come with his style would probably have pushed us down the table, but the talent was enough that it would likely have been a play off challence so 5th-9th rather than fighting for the top 2.

And there lies the fundamental flaw in his philosophy, one that is not suited to anything bar the elite level and even there is seemingly being moved away from in favour of quicker and aggressive styles. He's fastly becoming a modern dinosaur.

Surely he'll wait for a Championship job at a more stable club.

 

There's no way his stock has dropped far enough that he needs League One and no way our combination of reputation and financial situation is good enough to attract his level of coach to drop.

 

Can see us being naive enough to waste time on him but can't see it ever happening.

 

Plus, it honestly wouldn't surprise me if Topkin think Martin is genuinely a better catch.

He made a terrible decision to leave Boro for Wolves. Left them in 2nd position for a team that looked destined to break Derby's record.

 

I doubt he'll want to make a similarly bad decision in signing for the worst run club in English football.
