Genuinely think Martin will get us of league 1.
Problem is we’re heading straight to league 2 with him.
If Challinor gets the Salford job then this time next year they’ll be in a league above us.

Lord knows I’m no fan of Martin, but I’m curious to know where this idea that he will relegate us to League Two has come from given that he improved all three EFL clubs he managed and got one of them promoted. There are good reasons not to want him, but the prospect of a third successive relegation isn’t one of them. That won’t happen.

Trouble is Top likes someone who talks the talk and is impressed and obsessed with this possession based football. Both Marti and RM will come across as very convincing in an interview because they are smart talkers. However, we need someone who can walk the walk and for me, out of the realistic candidates available, that has to be Challinor.

Swansea finished higher before him.

Swansea were in the playoffs under Cooper and they fell to 15th and then 10th

MK Dons is moot because they were promoted before him

Thats more scary than a positive IMO

I'm not a fan, but have signings under him been unilaterally bad across his jobs? I am worried about the profile of players we'll sign though (e.g. overly possession focused).

Pretty sure MK Dons nearly got automatic promotion the season after he left too. Absolute myth

I think that side of things is not anywhere near as concerning as his fixation on a style of play and subsequently putting undue pressure on ill suited players (requires world class players)

Smallbone and Aribo as a 2 next season will be fun

After we have sold Braybrooke to Wigan for £50k of course

Know you're joking but would expect Braybrooke will be key to Martin's style of play - he's exactly his type of player.

Well I meant in the more limited sense that he managed MK Dons and Swansea for two seasons each, and both clubs finished higher in the second season.

I don’t want him. I wish we were going for someone else. I just think the suggestion he’ll take us down to League Two is probably a bit overblown. He’s a solid enough EFL manager—no more, no leas.

Yeah but you can't beat the experience that the likes of Winks, Skipp, Smallbone and Aribo have.

Russell Martin is not going to be our next manager.

Your tiresome opinions are waffle and inaccurate.

More changeable than the recent weather.

Let’s be honest it’s somewhat of a poisoned chalice the last few seasons, no decent manager with half decent options on the table would want it.
We don’t even know what the outcome of last seasons PSR will be and if that will have further implications for late next season.

If you were Challinor you could sit tight and get a decent Championship job.

We expect a reset, but the chances are we get journeymen players, just of a lower level.

Isn't Martin's rep that he promotes younger players?

No fan of his but he ain't 'I prioritise experience' Rowett.

Yes he doesn’t like the older ones because most have knocked one out over his wife at some point
